Mousa Dembele

I love how he's not afraid to move with the ball up the pitch, to take players on, even though there's a risk he'll lose the ball from time to time. He opened up Le Scum so many times yesterday by just having the balls (and confidence) to be offensive in his play. And it's not like he's attempting silly dribbles or fancy inefficient moves, but much like Modric did (and was a master of), he seems to anticipate the passes he's getting and looks ready for his next move before he receives the ball. It was wonderful at times yesterday to see how he simply moved us into a more advanced part of the field by simply having a clever first touch.

Long may it continue! The moose has been excellent lately, sign him up for a new contract, if you ask me, has proven he's got the fight and ability in him. :)

I'd just like to point out that our Mousa has one S whereas the Fulham striker is Moussa with two S's.

Like Mouse and Mousse.

Mouse Dimple and Mousse Dimple.

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has picked up an injury in training with Belgium today, according to Belgian newspaper HLN.

The 28-year-old is said to have suffered a calf injury during the warm-up ahead of this morning’s session.

Dembele appeared set to take part in training before being struck down by the problem and immediately returning to the dressing room. He was unable to play any further part in the session.

He had missed yesterday’s sessions amid fears he was carrying a slight calf problem. But it appears the injury was either worse than Dembele realised or he managed to do further damage in today’s warm up.

The former Fulham man has been a fringe player at White Hart Lane in recent months, but has tapped into an excellent run of form over the last few weeks, including scoring the winner against Anderlecht last week and starring against Arsenal in last weekend’s north London derby.

Anyone know why we let players go on international duty?

Far less important than club football and only ever seems to get them injured. They should all be 'injured' before the break for a week.

Although I hope it's nothing serious, the good thing this year is that we have so many options that I'm not concerned about his absence impacting our performances.

I am, he is a big part of how we play this season and when he comes off in games you can tell the difference.
I don't get the feeling this year that we're that overly reliant on any one player, aside from the defence. We were all worried when Son got injured that it would impact our offensive game and we didn't do too shabby in his absence. Agreed that Dembele brings a different dimension and skill set, but nothing that cannot be mitigated by a slight change in tactics with other players.
