Mohammed Kudus

It just circles back to how utterly overplayed Kudus was. Ridiculous as Frank was aware of what the issues overplaying our players -especially internationals- were. It makes the quick sale of Johnson even more ridiculous than it was in the first place. I mean, he shoulds've been used more in rotation with Kudus (I know they have different styles and attributes, but the 'flexible tactician' could surely have worked with that). His inability to rotate the player properly and get rid of his back-up/competition looks worse every passing minute (and it looked poor to me at the time)...

I think Frank basically painted himself into a corner in what was a bit of a perfect storm for him. I believe he's a much better coach than he was able to show here, but he didn't trust the squad to perform, and he over-reduced the problem to a point that he started to see things as a foregone conclusion. The players (some of whom thought they were a level above his management and therefore didn't afford him a lot of respect to begin with) accordingly did the same. He over-thought the whole thing, as I suspected he might. He then became desperate, lost the head on selection issues, and the wheels very soon came off altogether. All things considered, it was an awful appointment, made exponentially worse by the hubristic myopia of the now powers-that-be.

And it is really no surprise what has happened to some other players either. We were all marvelling at how Kulusevski managed to just keep on playing on fumes week after week last season...."don't know how he does it" we all said....turns out his body didn't know how he did it either and is now totally f*cked.

You might be right but I'm not sure Brennan was even 2nd choice backup to Kudus in Frank's setup. He used him early doors on the left and he wasn't a complete disaster there. If we remember the early commentary on Frank's Spurs we were saying that the right side looked pretty decent but we had nothing on the left so we channeled everything through Kudus. Frank probably felt that if he had switched in Johnson for Kudus then he lost that as Johnson is only a "moments" player. I think Frank would have rather had any of his right players or forwards there if they were able to hold the ball up.

Frank got it so wrong in my opinion. He should have fixed that central area and not put so much emphasis on the channel.

Not rotating Odobert in more was the kuch bigger issue than Johnson. And when this finally got forced on Frank, Odobert started showing he was actually capable

Good point. I would say the same about Tel. I know he's a leftie but he can still play on the right.

The player I've taken issue with is Muani. Whilst he is new to the PL, he is 27 years old. He should have applied himself much better at Spurs and given his managers more to work with. I can forgive Solanke as I just don't think we've ever got him to full fitness. Richi has given his all whilst Simons hasn't obviously hit his stride but shown some good moments. I think he plays in the tougher role though, especially in the PL.
