Mohammed Kudus

It just circles back to how utterly overplayed Kudus was. Ridiculous as Frank was aware of what the issues overplaying our players -especially internationals- were. It makes the quick sale of Johnson even more ridiculous than it was in the first place. I mean, he shoulds've been used more in rotation with Kudus (I know they have different styles and attributes, but the 'flexible tactician' could surely have worked with that). His inability to rotate the player properly and get rid of his back-up/competition looks worse every passing minute (and it looked poor to me at the time)...

I think Frank basically painted himself into a corner in what was a bit of a perfect storm for him. I believe he's a much better coach than he was able to show here, but he didn't trust the squad to perform, and he over-reduced the problem to a point that he started to see things as a foregone conclusion. The players (some of whom thought they were a level above his management and therefore didn't afford him a lot of respect to begin with) accordingly did the same. He over-thought the whole thing, as I suspected he might. He then became desperate, lost the head on selection issues, and the wheels very soon came off altogether. All things considered, it was an awful appointment, made exponentially worse by the hubristic myopia of the now powers-that-be.

And it is really no surprise what has happened to some other players either. We were all marvelling at how Kulusevski managed to just keep on playing on fumes week after week last season...."don't know how he does it" we all said....turns out his body didn't know how he did it either and is now totally f*cked.
