Mohammed Kudus

Even in his first season, he got a few goals in the Europa League which apparently is a poor standard.

In the league first season he had a goal ratio of worse than one in 4 games, and assists worse than one in 5 games. And that was his good season.

He is a decent dribbler, but most of those dribbles end up going nowhere hence why his output isn't very good....
He has got a goal or assist every 200 minutes ish… in the league
Where are you getting your numbers from or are you just breaking each part down individually?
A said yesterday his numbers are on it with peak Grealish and better than Doku who some rate

Transfermarkt

In the PL one goal every 5 games, assists slightly worse ratio. Wasn't much better in the Dutch league

Right
But for a wide player you combine the numbers because their role is to do both
I’m gonna be honest and think you have made an odd take here
I appreciate your not a fan but I’ve never seen anyone break out a wingers numbers like that
And I’ll throw in the string caveat he was supplying who up front?

I haven't made any take, I'm stating facts. His goalscoring is poor for a forward, his assists are too. The very good wing forwards in the league do both well, to date he does neither.

The only good thing he does is dribble, but the majority of the time it is not into dangerous areas. Bowen played up front plenty of times when Kudus played, and Kudus created 4 big chances in the whole of last season so trying to make out as if it was just because West Ham didn't have some top striker up front is a weak argument.

He might improve, but it's far from a given.....

Bowen played striker
Bowen
The winger
Played as a striker
It’s like when we okayed Sonny as a striker
They had no one up front
They signed the giant German who turned out to not wanna be there
They also played kudus striker in some games
They were truly awful as a team and that’s why they sacked their manager
The arguments you make are exactly what West Ham fans are saying now he is leaving
As I said, his numbers are on or with city’s wingers
Peak Grealish at Villa too (haven’t checked his stats at city)
Can’t say there are many others to immediately compare with who played for a team that were so low down in the table and played negative football… would be a United or wolves winger. Maybe an Everton or palace one
Maybe Eze?
He scores a goal every 4 and a 1/3 games and an assist every 6 and 1/3
I think he is the penalty taker so that may up his numbers. Would you take Eze?
I would, by the way. I think he is a great player

Apologies Bedford but you keep changing direction with what is being discussed and I can't keep up. His stats are average at best and a big part of that is because of his footballing brain, or lack of. Maybe he will improve, maybe he won't.

He at least plays on the right and is a dribbler so offers something different. But I don't see him as a significant improvement on what we have. No biggie....

Hey it’s all opinions
I think he is exacting what we need
Someone who is different and plays that way
The game and coaches have taken football and tried to make it robotic
He will get fans off their seats and IMO will set up so many opportunities playing in a decent side with an actual striker to play with and off
We will see soon

Sterling dribbles a lot too. If you suggest putting him in our team you might need to up your meds.

Feels like an expensive downgrade:

That speaks to how good Kulu is too. Amazing that last summer fans were suggesting he wasn't very good and we should get rid. And even now, they forget how good he was for the first two-thirds of the season.

It is all about how we harness Kudus' ability to move past midfielders and defenders. If we utalise it effectively, and he gets into form and a rythm, he could be a bargain. Let's revisit this one next season, and see if your negative view point is substianted?

For me, this is Lange's big test. If/when the "data model" makes Kudus an excellent signing. then Lange becomes the main man at Spurs. Johan justifies his existence on these big decisions.

I can remember when we bought the "150 min goal or assist man Solanke" from Bournemouth whilst our own "100 min a goal or assist" crocked donkey Richarlison was under pressure. The difference was that Solanke had been fit for selection an entire season. Then Dom signed and Richi got injured again.

Great decision by the club adding that depth.

I think you have to back the club on Kudus. It's clearly a different position to Eze so no point comparing.

Which new signing could have a bigger impact next season? Kudus or Tel? I can't tell. Hopefully they both smash it out of the park (or in the net) for our club.

Exactly, he's exciting to watch - got to be good thing for us. Is he as effective as he might be? Last season, no. Season before that, yes. And he is 24/5 Bowen is 28 for example, Kudus should have more to come.

Ultimately you look at the technique and ability of a player, and make a judgment. To me I see a player who has a rare ability to drive past midfielders, and has a decent shot too. He is comprable to Kulu - similar age, not perfect but sensational on his day, highly skillful, strong, good with the ball at his feet. Both could probably tuck the ball into the net more frequently and need to refine their finishing.

I think its an exciting signing, and depending on how Frank uses him, he can help to unlock teams.

Comparable
But different
And different to Johnson too
We need variety and options
He gives us that

One thing that’s not been mentioned is how it may free up Johnson to play with Wissa role (which I think suits him)

Sort of agree

For me, it's about being a ready for 60 games. If everyone can put aside their "for or against" biases with Ange, what was 100% clear in my mind was about the massive negative impact (in our 90 min options) when the early season injuries to Odobert and Richi happened. Add to that, we will never know what happened with Werner, but the that moment Ange spoke out publicly against him, everyone run to William Hill and placed their bets on that outcome.

I'm probably sounding like a broken record at this point, but when we create the squad depth and meritocracy system then magic will happen. We're not going to have a Mane, Firminho, Salah dominant 3. Our strength will be the collective, not the individuals, regardless whether we spend £30m or £70m.

I hope we think about Tel and Kudus this way, i.e. not like a Harry or Sonny.

Kulusevski's stats aren't even that spectacular. They're good, very good - but they look world class next to the new boy.

Let's hope he's able to learn a lot at an age when players don't tend to be able to.

Hmmm
Meritocracies in football exist if players perform
Every club has it
What’s key is what make the team tick (look at PSG now they are a team)
But you need variety within the squad
Players will drop in form and also have games where their oppo has their nunber. If you replace like for like you won’t change things for the better
