Mohammed Kudus

I just realised something. Priority number 1 has actually been addressed and before preseason matches even start. This never happens.
Shows how desperately West Ham needs the money. I'm surprised they need to sell before they can buy considering all the money they got for Rice....

Thats my only reservation about buying African players. Why cant they play Afcon every 4 years and same time as the Euros?
I wonder to we still pay their wages when they are away too? At least the other tournaments are in off season ( yes i know Qatar WC was an exception).

Won't need tk worry about it this season Ghana didn't qualify.

Really interesting comparison to Dembele in the thread earlier. Close ball control, upper body strength, confidence to take several players on in tight spots, questionable end product. Dembele also had questions over his consistency and temperament and people should remember that Poch effectively froze him out of the first XI when he first arrived. In those situations it goes one of two ways - down the Dembele route - knuckle down and train and play back into contention OR down the N'Dombele route!

Have to say I have never concentrated on watching this guy. I saw some goals etc but that was it. Looking at him from fresh eyes and with some of the usual Youtube Highlights his close ball control reminds me of Dembele. Who also started as a Forward but well did not have that much of an attacking instinct. Was always pass first which is why his move backwards was perfect.

What position do you guys see him playing for us?
I'd say predominantly on the right wing. I'm sure I read somewhere he has played up front for Ghana - one of his main attributes is that he is physically strong and fends off defenders well, so perhaps he could be utilised there too if we want to mix things up or have injury problems up top....

i am confident TF will make kudus a better player, but just putting it out there something i found on the internet

Can't really argue with the numbers, I really like Pedro, but there is a slight difference between playing for a more than decent Brighton side vs a brick West Ham side.

I'm all for supporting Kudus, but this 'Yeah but he plays for West Ham' argument regarding his poor output is nonsense. Plenty of players at poor teams put in good numbers, hence why they get picked up by better teams. And it didn't stop Bowen putting in very good numbers at the same team. Why? Because he is actually a really good player.

Kudus currently is good at dribbling and physically strong and is the type of player that get bums off seats for sure. But he currently lacks footballing intelligence and the reason his numbers are what they are is because of him. Obviously Frank believes he can coach him to be more productive which is great, we've backed the manager so let's see if both manager and player delivers....

We were worse than West Ham last season. We desperately need to sign players that uplift a bad side, not players that can thrive in a good side as part of a small cog in a functioning system.

Delighted with this

He has excellent balling carrying abilities and his stats will improve in a better team

The price is about the going rate for a PL player.

Glad we've gone down this route

4th signing done

May as well remove 2 of them tho. Only one is worth huge sums. But these paper valuatoins are pointless. Its based on what his companies are worth - which are probably highly leveraged. Its not like Kretinsky has 10b in the bank. Only really Saudis have those kinds of numbers in liquid cash. More money than they know what to do with.
