Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

My favourite Poch quote: a player signs a contract not to play but to train. What a brave and ruthless approach in a time when footballers are rich and spoilt beyond most people's wildest dreams from a very young age.

Here's wishing you a happy new year Mauricio. Since you arrived at my beloved club you have met all my expectations. Here's to 2016 when I am hoping you will exceed them.

That quote really struck me also. Brutal truth.

he's here for the long haul boys. Enjoy the ride
If the qoute is real... I'm lost for words. It even brought a tear to my eyes. He is doing something for our club, some very good things. Let's hope he gets the help he need, and a bit of luck. Then we will be in an even happier place than we currently are. For me he got the right caracter, and it looks like he is all about the right things in man managment.

And dear me, I'm happy about an ugly win against Watford away!

This comes after some bricky websites (using italian sauces ofc) reckon we have Allegri lined up to replace Poch this summer, because Poch will be too ambitious for us after this season.

I don't think he will leave. Why go to another club to start the same thing that he is doing here. It's only when he feels that we are not capable of meeting his ambitions that he will leave and I just don't see that happening. But I am an optimist!

Those Poch 'quotes' originate from a Facebook fan page so take with a pinch of salt

Hey everyone. I've been reading this forum for years and this is the first time I felt the need to post. I also love Pochettino so I want what he said to be true. So as a Spanish speaker I investigated.

So the quotes appear come from this article. http://www.elmundo.es/deportes/2015/12/28/56802d0c46163fa8748b4613.html

I can't seem to find the first quote but the other two while they are a bit paraphrased because of the translation are 100% what he meant.

Cheers and welcome to the board :)

Winning ugly its all a part of it.

Man U used to do it with Fergie and we were all told that it's what champions do ...

We do it and we get all soppy about it. I love days like this ... we should try to win in whatever fashion to get the points.

Amen brother.

We need to give Poch a big contract extension......and pay him top money.

I think there will be many suitors come the summer

Indeed, the job he is doing here is first class and I believe that he is ahead of the job ( third place in the table in less then two seasons), they will be days when it does not look so good but give him the time and who knows what we will achieve. Said it before I have seen several false dawns in the last fifty years but this looks like the " real deal".

I wonder if this statement is a bit far out but the impression I get is that Levy has never worked so harmoniously with a manager before.....

With Harry we played sensational stuff and did memorable things but the two clashed, I doubt Levy liked Arry's way of dealing with the media, or his badgering for players...same with AVB who demanded Hulk and and the cm currently at Monaco...Moutinho I think?

I have never had the feeling like now that the whole club is hungry, no longer looking for easy excuses, chairman and manager are in sync together, the bad roots have been pulled out and tossed aside by Pochettino, what is left is young players ready to become his disciples....

Poch has got on with things and never moaned.....as far as I know.....never whined and threw toys out of the pram demanding this and that.....

Such is the respect that Levy has for Poch I imagine that if Poch did say he needed us to go big in January for a striker in order for us to challenge I think Levy will back him, even with great finances needed for the new stadium.

WE NEED another striker who is predominately a striker who can score goals but can also play on the wing....Berahino would be a risk with his supposed poor attitude but I have Faith that Poch can mould him and get the best out of him.

Thats the thing...false dawns before....but this time I really Believe, but we must go all out for another striker....must do...whether thats Saido or someone else...just one signing could make a huge difference and propel us towards a successful conclusion to this season.

The window will say much about both. I believe there is a like and mutual respect between Poch and Levy

The trick will be

- Levy needs to back Poch in January
- Poch needs to realize he needs depth/experience in his squad (don't be Wenger and fall for your own hype)
