Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Indeed, the job he is doing here is first class and I believe that he is ahead of the job ( third place in the table in less then two seasons), they will be days when it does not look so good but give him the time and who knows what we will achieve. Said it before I have seen several false dawns in the last fifty years but this looks like the " real deal".
And we must not forget that, if he stays and we have a bad season sometime in the future, we mustn't start flogging him, but stick with him through thick and thin. Continuity is important, especially with a coach that seems to be running the team with the right principles.

We can live it hope but they will be those who will turn on him fast if that happens, sad to say.

beat me to it

Can't see why he'd want to move. He doesn't need more money to build a team and in his ethos, more money is a hindrance in a lot of cases. If United do come in for him (and I think he would suit them down to the ground), Levy should make him a fair offer to increase his wages.

Things are going well for him and we're seeing that money doesn't buy performances any more. As long he is doing right by his own family and maximising the earning potential of his career, he should and would stay I reckon.

I can remember a few discussions around his rigidness in formation and style.

Well that's clearly not an issue. He has played deeper some games. Has played counter. Now went 3 at the back. He has got us to slow down the ball transition from the back to avoid costly errors. He has employed a real DM this season as opposed to two box to box players.

For me this shows that he doesn't see him self as a scholar but rather still a student and he isobsessed with getting it right.

And it sounds weird but I cannot wait for his book to come out. I am mega intrigued with his mind and how he thinks about the game and life.

Mauricio Pochettino has an opportunity to build a dynasty at Tottenham. Were he to go to Manchester the entitled Utd fans would hound him out in five minutes if they weren't winning things by his second season.

As long as Daniel pays him properly and backs him with money when it is required he'll be good to stay. Poch has a great young squad to work with including the best Keeper and Striker in the Prem. Training facilities that are second to none in Europe, and what will be an absolutely state of the art stadium in which to showcase his team and hopefully parade some Silverware.

Why would he want to go to Manchester, and have to deal with Woodward, the Glazers and have old Whisky face sat on his left shoulder the whole time? Poch strikes me as a smart guy and I think that he will realise that he is best off where he is.

What do people think about changing formation just for an opponent?
There's always been people making the case "you impose your own game on an opponent you don't change for them."

I think its a sign Poch is sitting pretty comfortable right now and feels he can stretch the players a little.

Personally I dont think it was the right time to change the formation without a full week to prepare on the training ground. It was really unfortunate when we ended up with Carroll and a booked Alli in the middle instead of Dembele. There's no way we had prepared for that scenario.

I can see him doing the exact same time in the league game at home to Leicester. I think we'll be much better prepared second time around.

How do we know whether it is not something that they haven't been working on on the training ground for a while?

Exactly; I saw the same msg from Modric during or straight after the game.

Obviously has insight into what and how we are prepping for the foreseeable.

You'll need to give yourself twenty or so minutes (as it says on the tin) but an engrossing read. Apologies if posted already.

Edit: ah, I see Ledley's Knee Injections beat me to it by some distance.
Brilliant read. Thanks for posting again as I missed it the first time

The way I read it, the Poch has a similar relationship to Levy as he did Cortese. It's important that we have a manager who has the respect of Levy.

I generally hate it and see it as negotive as it means your worried about them. But it was perfect and clearly worked despite their goal.

We looked comfortable at the back for me and we weren't posing the midfield battle much. We did however struggle with capoue floating around (can't believe I'm Being positive about him)

I agree totally. But Man U is one of ultimate big football 'train sets' to play with. Any football manager will be drawn.

I'm with you....but.......

Well... It worked rather well...

I think part of the reasons teams like Leicester, Watford and Crystal Palace enjoy success is that teams refuse to adapt to them as they're being seen as smaller teams. No one bats an eye if you change your formation or style of play against City, United or Arsenal. In fact Wenger has been criticised for a long time for not changing his style enough against the big teams and has enjoyed a lot of success after stumbling across deep defending and counter attacking last season.
