Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Good result today, good to see us rest Kane, Walker, Rose, Eriksen, Dembele & Alli and still put in such a performance.

Think Poch is close to having that system in place that allows rotation without significant impact. Well done.

Our squad depth is becoming really impressive. Pochettino (and Mitchell, Levy, the transfer team and our academy) deserve a lot of credit for building this squad through transfers and player development at a very reasonable cost.

I still really think Poch made the right choice in starting Alderweireld (or it could have been Vertonghen) in the back 4 yesterday. We looked solid and Wimmer + the full backs had good days. Had it been a complete change with Fazio, Veljkovic or 2CV coming in next to Wimmer we might have seen a different outcome. Solid rotation the way rotation (imo) should be done.

Will be a very different challenge for Pochettino come the new year when the nature of the EL will change drastically. Won't be able to blood as many youngsters and the competition will be fiercer meaning less rotation overall. But he's put us in a good situation during the first half of the season so that quite a lot of players look ready to step in if needed.

You keep going with your criticism of Poch but fail to back your opinion with any compelling evidence. So I would suggest it is you with the pitch fork.
that chelsea is way down in the table, liverpool below us and we are just 3 points ahead of west ham and crystal palace is enough evidence for me. we should be in the top four now. too many draws against lesser teams.

Or we our just 3 points behind City and United and 4 behind the Arse. It's a strange old season but I just see us getting stronger not weaker.

Being above two big names, but not in the top 4 = Not good enough?

Strange logic.

how others are doing is irrelevant, all i'm concerned is our performance compared to last season, we've improved, thats all that matters

But we are only 3 points behind Emirates Marketing Project and 6 points from 1st place. A run of wins and we'll be top of the league -- easier to turn draws into wins that losses into wins. We're a consistent side who are usually the better team in the games we've played this season.

I've been thinking this, so I'll write it here. I think within 10 league games, we'll be top of the table :)

Unfortunately, this "odd" season has probably come a year too early, if our squad was a year further into Poch's system +a quality backup for Kane, we would have been challenging for the title in this particular run.

And its likely the usual suspects will sort there brick out by next year.

title talk is nice, but think we really have to deliver 4th, based on the opportunity the season has provided.

People say this every year but there are always opportunities if you play well

Fair, but Cheat$ki will have finished outside top 4 twice (if they go as expected this year) in last 8? Scum never in last 10+

Years when two of the main contenders are struggling are not that common.

Maybe you should become the manager seeing as you believe we should be doing better.

Not looking at specific targets, but I've never been so optimistic about our season, and also going into any game.
The cohesive system and all round approach, pressing intensity etc, and overall team dynamic has imo, been so impressive.
Not having to rely on a piece of magic a flare player, once in every 9 games but having a team.. dare i say squad, full of players busting a gut for each other is quality. Without being arrogant or disrespectful, I fear nobody, whoever we play.

How is that compelling evidence of underperformance? I might agree with you that we have had a lot of draws but we have also only lost once and topped our Europa League group. Sorry mate but that post makes you sound like the worse kind of fickle supporter.

One of the established top four has an off season most years. Besides, we must be getting to the point where we must consider ourselves genuine contenders and not needing to rely on others slipping up.

Now watch it all fall apart.

I agree, draw against lesser like Chelsea and Liverpool are not good enough...

I think metalgear is simply not a fan of Poch. That's all mate. Otherwise I simply don't understand, as it seems pretty clear to me that the man is delivering on all fronts as he gets close to finishing his rebuild of our club from top to bottom.

I think we are a real superstar player away from moving up a level.

A Sanchez, Hazard, Aguero type player.

Let's see how things go in the second half of the season. With our pressing style i fear we (or at least certain very key players, such as Kane, Dier, Toby, Jan, perhaps Eriksen) could burn-out and crash post February.

I think AVB, whilst not being the most outright attacking/risky of our recent managers seemed to be able to set us up so we didn't have late season burnout.

If you think back to our form in the 2012/13 season, our form was crazy good after that crazy late loss to Everton: only losing 2 our of our remaining 22/23 game would easily have got us 4th in any other season. It was only the fact that Arsenal's form after we beat them was actually obscene/demented that stopped us getting that 4th spot.

Only when we go similarly close with Poch to getting 4th or actually achieving 4th can we start making pronouncements about how Poch is better than AVB. Of course if we want to talk about preffered style and who was more entertaining, by all means we can discuss, but as i said before we should hold back before we start sucking all our (and Poch's) d1cks just yet...

I see that some are still holding a candle for AVB. They must be mad, bad or sad. I for one am quite happy to make the pronouncement now that Poch is a better manager than AVB. AVB was the most boring manager we have ever had - He played mind numbing football and used a reckless high line to which we were entirely unsuited. This resulted in many fans considering whether the still wanted to watch his brand of football and also resulted in some humiliating defeats. He wasted some supreme talents under his watch ( Adebayor, VDV to name but two) and only wanted to buy extremely expensive footballers and pay them loads of dosh.

I have no hesitation in saying I prefer the Poch brand of football - the high energy, forward looking, attractive style with young and many home grown players. It's a no brainier for me.
