Mateus Ferdnandes

I think the transfer fee potentially scared United off. Same i think will happen with Tonali. If overpaying in transfer fee means we get our first choice targets vs missing out at a lower fee with more interest then it might be seen as good value in the bigger picture. If they improve the team to a point whereby we're in the CL places then moving forwards we'll be in a position to go head to head on transfers vs rivals as we can (seemingly) offer the wages and then the level of competition too. Until then we need to find an edge

Ultimately we're desperate and not as attractive as the CL teams so we have to pay bigger fees and wages, I expect UTD know they'll have other options so are happy to bide their time and see if they can get a bit more value. Not a better or worse strategy, just different based on where they are and I expect we'll be in a similar position in 1 or 2 summers time where we're targetting selected positions so can be a bit pickier.

The main issue with paying big wages to a new player is that the existing squad will complain and ask for more money. But we want half of them to fudge off antway so that works in our favor.

This is absolute Gold(bridge)! 😂😂😂

We have a lot of players now, and need to shift some?

Bentancur it worth keeping imo. He's not the most consistent, but can play at a top level. When he's in the zone he's very good, and able to play well under De Zerbi.

Gallagher - if someone made an offer, we might take it. But likely to stay and can provide back up for the no 10 until Xavi is back.

Sarr - De Zerbi was talking him up, and could see him coming good under the Italian.

Gray - has the passing skill and time to become a good squad player for De Zerbi but needs to add more to his game. Train well, or maybe a loan.

Bergvall - looks more likely to be sold as there is interest.

Maddison - our lack of fit attacking players means he should stay. He's also more senior and a good team guy. Probably should start in the no 10 role until Xavi or Kulu return. Any news on Kulu?

Palhinha - not our player but could provide vital back up to Ferdnandes. Seems less likely now. He was so vital to us and De Zebri in the run in.

Fernandes/Gray Tonali/Bentancur
---------Maddison/Gallagher

Bergvall potentially kept to give us 5 CMs.

Sarr sold.
Palinha not kept.
