Gutter Boy
Tim Sherwood
Sure its been said before, but there's something quite Frenkie de Jong about him
Difficult to judge in a game that was that one sided and then that relaxed.I thought Bergval was nowhere near it tonight and shows the step up to the best league in the world for a young kid. No doubt he can play but positionally he was all over the place, always 5 yards out of position.
That said his ability with the ball was good and i think his stats will probably show he had an excellent game.
just in the looks department… racistSure its been said before, but there's something quite Frenkie de Jong about him
He was good then oddDifficult to judge in a game that was that one sided and then that relaxed.
I wouldn't describe him as being all over the place positionally, but for sure sometimes he was not where he needed to be.
Worth mentioning that this role isn't one he's been used to for us and one that hasn't been his main one before either from what I know.

Looked a fairly fluid midfield three where all three of Bergvall, Sarr and Maddison would drop deeper and make runs up the pitch. But Bergvall and Sarr were deeper overall I thought and both defensively and in buildup Bergvall was fairly deep. Deeper than he's been in other games for us from how I saw it.What role/position did he play yesterday?
I watched most of the first half only, but didn't pay too much attention to the positions he took up etc
I don't think him and Sarr could be solid enough for a midfield 2 long term, but yesterday turned out perfect for him and his development, I was impressed with him, and Sarr for that matter. Good game and mins in the bank, positive
Agre, like I say, I was impressedyes they need to improve but they are improving. sarr is 22 but bergvall is only 18, so has more time on his side
he looked solid. I was watching him closely as I still wonder what kind of player he is going to be come. he looks tidy on the ball, decent close control and press resistance ( well it was Soton ) a decent ping pass on him. He kind of reminded me of Modric when he first joined. But well, he is 18. Long way to go.
Yup Ange tweaked his tactics. At times he asks the person in the 8 role to sit a bit deeper while asking the 10 to be a bit more forward. Makes the 4 and 8 work harder though. I will be happy if we get through December with minimal injuries and lost points. Also good that Bissouma could rest and that Bentancur is resting.Looked a fairly fluid midfield three where all three of Bergvall, Sarr and Maddison would drop deeper and make runs up the pitch. Think he could develop into most midfield roles really. More advanced #10 role would probably depend on end product. Looks a really well rounded player who also has potential stand out attributes.Interesting question, he has a lot of attributes, aggressive, can pass, decent in tight spaces, physical enough for his age/size, getting lots of exposure with us and national team
Still 18 ...
The game would've looked a lot different with VAR tonight. Several yellow cards, possibly a red for Bruno clamface, and I'm absolutely certain they would've ruled out Son's goal despite it not being a foul.
