January transfer rumour thread

Would be good if we had a set-piece specialist as we get into the positions thanks to Bale, Azza and Modders but no one to utilise such positions.

Don't mind Saha as I wouldn't have minded Zamora. They are not first choice but serve a purpose. I appreciate the January transfer window is not an ideal time to sign a WC striker. It's easy to get hyped up on deadline day, just as much we hate ITKs but read their posts.

I think the thing about Saha is that he is short term. Zamora is going to be looking for a long contract and we'd potentially be stuck with his wages whilst searching for a better player. Saha on a short loan wouldn't affect our summer search so much. It isn't perfect, but if it allows us to make money on Pav and not affect our main search for a replacement in the summer, I can see why we'd do it.

Replacing one ordinary striker for another is not an improvement. I would rather stick with Pav becaue as poor as he is at least he will not be sending more time getting fit than Ledley

If he is fit then Saha offers a lot more to the team than Pav. Redknapp has got a good record of getting a few extra years out of players.

A fit Saha is worth two of Pav. He was a great player on his day. Just not enough of them, sadly.

When I first heard about Saha I thought WTF!!! But now that I have thought some more, I'm OK with it. Whether he comes here on loan or permanentley, he is a player with some degree of the qualities we need, and he knows full well that he is nowhere near the first XI when everyone is fit. I think it's debateable whether he is better then Pav, but he is definitely a better fit to our team.

Inter Milan have signed Porto midfielder Fredy Guarin on a six-month loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
Thiago Motta -> PSG, Lucho -> Porto, Guarin -> Inter, Muntari -> AC Milan

Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has successfully passed his medical with Fulham and is now waiting for his work permit.

Harry talks so much brick, 'we will only sign a special player'. that old twitchy bastard cant tell the truth for one fudging sentence can he, no wonder he is in court for tax evasion, trumping his way through that too.

bit harsh mate, why you so bitter?

Work permits have been approved for David Pizarro to Emirates Marketing Project, and Pavel Pogrebnyak to Fulham.

CSKA Moscow have turned down Lazio's offer for highly-rated playmaker Keisuke Honda, with the Italian side now turning their attention to Villarreal forward Nilmar
