OK - so now a lottery for how soon Wheelchair and Henderson break down. Just cannot believe Woy expects Sturridge to play.
 
Sterling, awful all season
Wheelchair, didnt play 90 mins all year
Henderson, was out injured for pong periods and has zero form
Sturridge, clearly couldnt be bothered this season

Yet all the above go over a lad who had the season of his life and won the league

Absolutely ridiculous in my book

Dier now the only proper DM in the squad, so what happens if he has to play CB yep,a crock who hasnt played all year will play in the pivotal position

Hugely unbalanced squad, totally predictable from Hodsgon though
 
Yeah too many injury prone players like wheelchair, Henderson and Sturridge, out of form and not totally convincing Barkley, 3 centre halves with only Dier as back up and if he were to stop back then we have no defensive mid as Drinkwater has been left out

I would have left out Henderson and Barkley tbh
 
I'm not surprised, it seems form counts for nothing. So much for his promise to pick players on form and not loyalty.

No doubt Hodgson and his dinosaur tactics will be sent packing by the Quarter Finals, but somehow he'll return home to a new contract until 2018.
 
Really struggle to pick an England team with this squad.

I'd go with something like:


Hart
Walker Smalling Cahill Rose
Dier Alli Henderson
Kane Rooney Vardy

I would have played Drinkwater instead of Henderson.

I think what Hodgson will do:

Hart
Clyne Smalling Cahill Rose
Dier Henderson Wheelchair
Rooney Sterling
Kane
 
I love the way the likes of Bertrand, Sturridge, Henderson and Alli have all at some point went to Hodgson and asked for their squad number to be the same as their club one.

Not surprised that Drinkwater has been cut he seems out of place in a England shirt I do feel for Townsend though, I was not unhappy when we sold him but he has had good form since his move and he can offer something we do not have elsewhere in the squad.

You are right. He's picked on reputation really despite his promise and he is gambling on the fitness of 3 players. It's going to backfire and he'll get slaughtered in the media.

One wonders whether feels he's got to pander to the Arse/ManUre/Liverwhinge press, who would otherwise slag him and the squad.

Andros might not have been doing the right thing at Spurs, but he barely put a foot wrong for England and he has played a more intelligent game at Toon.
 
Rashford has scored 5 goals in 862 premier league minutes. Thats 172.4 minutes per goal.
8 other English players have scored more league goals per minute than him.
Strurridge, Vardy, Kane, Wellbeck, Callum Wilson(!!), Carroll, Defoe and Ings.

Coming up to the last world cup Kane scored a few goals for us under Sherwood.
He ended up having a 165.66 minutes per goal stat.

This is better than Rashford's current scoring record thats somehow bringing him to the Euros.

Do you remember any calls to bring Kane to the World Cup?

At least we can now hope for a quick exit for England, hopefully also with not to much game time for our players. We need them properly rested for next season, far away from the circus surrounding the national team.
 
The usual late opportunity for Sturridge or Wheelchair to be replaced, but almost inevitable it will come after 5mins of first match. The 2016 competition rules, including everything about group positions and cards (that's red/yellow, not nectar) .....

in the final tournament, he may only be substituted if a doctor from the UEFA

Medical Committee and the team doctor concerned both confirm that the injury

or illness is sufficiently serious to prevent the player from taking part in the final

tournament. Subject to the final approval of the UEFA administration, this injured

or ill player may be replaced on the list of 23 players registered for participation in

the final tournament.

The replacement thing is more difficult if the player is already carrying an injury. If a player has played a complete season and pulls a muscle he will be signed off and replaced. If the player is recovering from a muscle or ligament injury and aggravates it slightly he might not be signed off.

A case can be made for one injured player, especially if an important player, but bringing a whole hospital ward of players who are not match fit and might not start is stupid, starting them anyway is worse.
