Is Milner fitted with a chip that blows his head up if he plays a forward pass?
Can we safely assume those that didn't get minutes tonight are first choice players?
Hart, Walker, Cahill, Rose, Alli, Kane and possibly Vardy plus Smalling and Dier (from tonight's players). The rest of the team builds around them.
Drop them all and take 22 - we'd be far better off.Townsend offers something different. I think he will go as an impact sub.
With Delph out, only two players will be dropped for the final 23. The trio of Milner, Drinkwater and Wheelchair are hardly inspiring and if only one is necessary then Rashford's chances must be looking good, especially with Sturridge's injury.
Of those three you know that he'll bring Wheelchair even though he's hardly played this season. I'm not a big fan of Milner nor Drinkwater but at least they are playing week in and week out which should stand for something.Townsend offers something different. I think he will go as an impact sub.

I saw my first England game in 1961 v Mexico and have never seen an England team with such awful centre-backs as the current squad, none of them seem to read the game or have any composure. Unfortunately we don't appear to be developing any, this is born out by players like Dann and Morgan being rated as good when they are merely average.

Tend to agree with you, defending seems to be a lost art in todays game.
I was always taught "The ball or the man gets past you. Never both"I always remembered what Bill Shipwright told me when I was a kid. "Stay in the middle and stay on your feet" someone should tell Smalling.

That and "Kick him hard enough early doors and you'll have half a second on him all match. If he forgets his place put him in the stands again"
