Now that England have played all their friendlies prior to the Euro squad being named what should the final 23 look like? Here's mine.

GK: Hart, Forster, ???
DEF: Walker, Rose, Smalling, Cahill, Stones, Clyne, Jagielka, Baines
MID: Alli, Dier, Lallana, Milner, Barkley, Henderson, Sterling
FOR: Kane, Vardy, Rooney, Wellbeck, Sturridge

I wouldn't disagree too much with that. Maybe Drinkwater instead of Milner.

Rooney is worth a place in the squad, but not to start. His play in tournaments doesn't warrant a starting place. But beoynd Kane and Vardy, I'm not sure there is the depth that people are suggesting, Sturridge is a very good finisher, but he's also a sulker and won't be happy playing second fiddle to Kane or Vardy, or even Rooney. Plus he's injury prone. Welbeck has never been prolific enough. People love a trier in this country, when has that ever worked?

People would laugh if Lallana, Henderson and Clyne played for any club other than Liverpool and were picked in the England squad. Makes it even more laughable when someone on TalkSport today suggested that Liverpool shouldn't pay 20 mil for Mario Gôtze because they have players like Lallana already.
My first thought; you believe what someone said on Talkbrick.
My second thought; you listen to Talkbrick?

England won't do much with a back five like that. Best bet is to keep possession in oppo's half, as far away from the goal as possible, as much as possible.

Shame our CD pairing aint local lads.

Last night just proves England are brick without the Tottenham core. It was soooo boring to watch that game.

The tossing over Drinkwater is embarrassing TBH. He is bog-average. Him and Milner together in this team are the 'paint-drying' mob...soooo fahkin boooooorrriiinnnggg!

How Drinkwater got MotM is beyond me, it must show how bad the rest played. Watching Drinkwater reminded me very much of Ray Wilkins at his worst, everything went sideways or backwards and at most 8 yards.

As for Milner he's been past it for the last three or four years and somehow Roy still keeps picking him.

Like Scott Parker but with a proper human being's legs and without the pirouettes.

--------------hart--forster---butland (if he's fit)
walker/clyne----smalling/shawcross----cahill/jagielka----rose/baines
--------------dier/carrick------henderson/drinkwater
----sterling/sturridge-----alli/barkley-------vardy/wellbeck
----------------------kane/rooney

Stones doesn't deserve a place in the squad, he's not shown that he's a good enough defender. Milner and Lallana are sh1t. Carrick for experience (and I can't think of another good defensive midfielder to backup for Dier). Unfortunately, I've had to pick two Everton defenders, but at least they are experienced backups.

I think Carrick is well past his prime. A plus is he can play CB so could drop into a back three the same way Dier does. There's not much else, though, which is probably why Hodgson will go for Wheelchair if one leg is functional. Hopefully we don't go for a late experiment with Stones (e.g. King and Carragher in 2006).

I think the centre forwards have to be Kane and Sturridge. Rooney changes it too much and won't stay in the role, although the one season he did for United he scored 30 goals. That means he has to play central, instead of Alli/Barklay, again changing the balance, or in one of the wide quarterback positions. If Rooney plays #10 then Alli has to play on the left, which should mean no Lallana.

GK: Hart, Forster plus one

RB: Walker, Clyne
CB: Cahill, Smalling, Jagielka plus one (Stones, Shawcross)
LB: Rose plus one (I'd only select Baines if he is the starter, otherwise think to the future with Shaw)

DM: Dier plus one (see above)
CM: Henderson plus one (Milner for experience or Drinkwater to reward form or possibly Wishere)

RWF: Welbeck, Vardy
AM: Alli, Barklay
LWF: Two from Rooney, Lallana, Sterling

CF: Kane, Sturridge

Fire up the organ, crank up the carousel and make room in the midfield.

Smokin' Jack Wheelchair is taking to the pitch for the Arsenal u21s. Surely that alone will be enough to swing his selection.

I would imagine Lallama or Henduhrsun will be bumped for him.

two things we get from this international break :

1) England can't defend

2) thank GHod, we as in Tottenham didn't get any injuries

Well assuming that all the below will be fit I would go with.

GK: Hart, Forster, ANO
DEF : Walker, Rose, Smalling, Cahill, Clyne, Jakielka, Stones, Gibbs
MID, Alli, Dier, Barkley, Henderson, Wheelchair, Sterling, Lallana
FOR: Kane, Vardy, Rooney, Sturridge, Wellbeck
