Listening to the Sunday Supplement journo's debate Rooney's inclusion earlier, it pains me that some players are undroppable. By all means keep Rooney in the squad, but don't try to crowbar him into some 433 or 4231 as a #10 when it isn't his position. Just because he's Enlgand's top goal scorer of all time, does not mean that he will score goals irrespective of fitness and form. I can understand him being Kane's backup, but that's about it. It's like the Beckham situation all over again.

Indeed...which begs the question: how much do sponsorship companies and/or Superagents have to do with International squad and first 11 selections?

Good post. Why Roy is so loyal to players have only played well in qualifiers against 2nd rate teams is beyond me. Rooney hasn't played well in a tournament since 2004!

Will be an even bigger joke if Wheelchair is picked, but we all know he will be even if he plays 0 minutes for scum.

Alli, Kane and Dier have to be in the starting 11 for the Euros. The Spurs bias aside, they all deserve to be there. Plus, look at winners of tournaments recently; Spain and Germany.

Spain were made up mainly of Barca and Real players. Germany were made up with a large portion of Bayern players. It has to help when you play players who also play together on a weekly basis at club level and know each other inside out like Kane and Alli do.

Without any question the best England performance since the 5-1 against Germany fifteen years ago. And that was against a far worse Germany side than this one. Don't think I've seen England look that crisp and fluid since the 4-1 against Holland at Euro 96, which was the last time we built the spine of the team from Tottenham players.

Hard to see where Rooney fits back into this team, captain or not. One man I would like to see given a chance to start in it is Sturridge though, as his goalscoring record when fit is outstanding. Vardy has probably earned himself a starting place although I wonder if his pace is better to bring off the bench against tired legs. There is an argument for bringing Wheelchair into the starting XI but ONLY if he gets fit again before the end of the season and performs to a high standard in the final few games - he is not so good/important to the team to be worth taking a gamble on - Alli and Dier were excellent last night and I thought Henderson did a good job alongside them, as long as somebody reminds him that he's not Steven Gerrard and he stops trying to hit long range screamers.

Still undecided on the CB pairing. But as it stands the front six I'd like to see are:

----------Dier-----------Henderson----------
------------------Alli---------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
Vardy-----------Kane--------------Sturridge

Agree with you re performance, your lineup is a little suicidal (too attacking top 3, maybe last 15 minutes, but couldn't see starting there)

I hardly watch England (not English and under Hodgson it's like watching LVG's Manure), my thoughts

- Dier, Alli, Kane have to play, Vardy is a great option of the bench.
- Rooney is no longer a starter for me, is he ok with that? if not, leave him.
- The major issue for England all night was Clyne, on that performance there is absolutely no way he plays in front of Walker.
- Hodgson needs to grow some balls if England wants to progress in tournament, key one, don't pick players who either injured or just came back from injury (how many tournaments do england need to do that in before learning).

Up next, the Dutchies. Should be a good run out, wonder what formation and line up Woy has in store for us ? Hope Poch has convinced him to let our lads have a night off, or at least sit on the bench. We do have Liverpool away this weekend, I mean !

so, if we get the four of them on again, and bearing in mind most of the Dutch team come from Spurs as well, could it be a record for most number of players from a single club in an international tonight?

Looks like he may have. Eight changes apparantly. Drinkwater and Vardy definitely start along with Forster, not seen the full X1 yet though

edit: only Walker and Rose starting

Forster;Walker,Smalling ,Stones.Rose; Drinkwater,Barkley,Milner; Sturridge,Vardy,Lallana

I can live with that. Let the Liverpool lads run themselves ragged instead

TRIVIA QUESTION: Before Dier and Kane scored against Germany on Saturday when was the last occasion that two separate Spurs players scored for England in a senior international?

Certainly vs W Germany in Mexico WC finals (Peters & Mullery) but, of course, everybody knows something very recent .....

I think you would always suffer a bit given the congruence between Alli and Dier...Drinkwater, Milner...well...tis a tad unfair to compare as there is little congruence.
