I don't blame him of course. He's completely entitled to choose the direction of his career. I'm just frustrated because I thought we were free Of him. 🤣

I think he looks pretty good as a physical left winger to provide knock downs and off ball running, or as a poacher who purely has to finish moves and typically with one touch. I think De Zerbi needs proper dribbling on the wing and proper hold up play in the middle, and he just can’t do it. Incredible how often he manages to make the wrong decision when he has the ball in the middle of the pitch. Or not control it at all.

Yep that’s the way I see it too. A while ago RDZ implied that Richy kept changing is mind on whether he want to leave or not (that wouldn’t surprise me at all). I think when the Ndaiye opportunity came up we tried to make Richy’s mind up for him. Perhaps without arguments over bonuses the deals would have been done sooner but I think it’s more likely that Ndaiye’s agent knew all about City’s interest and was likely to hang on just in case anyway

I didn’t really understand Ndiaye as an alternative to Gakpo. Ndiaye just seemed another Savior/Kudus type player to me.

Mudryk would seem to me to be more like Gakpo (though I appreciate it’s a long while since we’ve seen him). On loan I see no risk here, I’d expect after a couple of years out he’ll be desperate to buckle down, work hard and try to impress.

Yeah maybe the Gakpo thing was additional cover up front, but otherwise it’s about signing people that can actually beat their man on the wing.

Maybe Mudryk succeeded well in an RDZ system because he had to do one thing really well, which was beat his man with pace and deliver it into the areas that the structure opens up. And maybe we struggled outside of that if he had a bit more freedom?

Injury aside I can see Odobert not having a role with us for that reason. He’s actually quite a smart footballer IMO, great with link up, strong decision making, positions he takes up. But he’s less of an incredible 1v1 specialist. And overall I can see De Zerbi saying that whatever happens, he needs people that can dribble excellently out wide. Luckily we have Savio and Kudus now available. But he clearly wasn’t willing to only have Tel as an option until January.

Side note but I hope Tel puts it together. I think he has it. And maybe once the window closes he will calm himself. He was too on edge against Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

The risk is surely that he will be even worse than Tel so we will have no decent alternatives to Savio (unproven) and Kudus (unfit). RDZ expects his wingers to contribute 12 goals a season!
 
Ndiaye has 6 goals and 3 assists in 32 PL games last season.

Is losing out on this output worth throwing toys out of a pram for?

The bigger issue is we dont have anyone with any goals so far and we’re not exactly staring players with a well know goal return … Marmoushs career has been less than 1 in 3 as he is the new striker (I really like him but think he would shine of a striker)
