Hugo Lloris

Yeah, sorry, "shambles" was too harsh. Couple of dodgy punches again, poor distribution throughout, extreme frustration when the goals were conceded. I guess I meant he looks an unsettled and unhappy presence there at the moment.

I was sat level with the edge of Hugo' 6 yard area in the 2nd half and agree that he looked quite shaky at times, almost Gomes like, somewhat understandable I suppose what with Lloris not being the tallest of goalies and having to deal with the Spammer' aerial bombardment with little help from his CBs.

His distribution was once again poor and several times he declined the opportunity to play it short to Chiriches in order to hoof a hopeful long ball which invariably got mopped up by Spammer' defenders. According to http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/78...gland-League-Cup-2013-2014-Tottenham-West-Ham he attempted 18 passes with an overall 44% accuracy but of the 14 long balls he attempted only 4 found a teammate.

Looking at the Pass Success figures for our Top 4 rivals' goalies it does appear to be a bit of a problem for us, as Hugo' the only one finding a teammate less than half the time and less than a third of of his long passes have been successful so far this season :-k

there are reasons why the top clubs looked but said no thank you when it came to signing Lloris. He is good, but not that good.

He is looking a bit calamity James at the moment. But the type of pro-active Keeper he is, it's either going to be fantastic or a complete disaster. The measure of how good he is will come with the ratio of fantastic to disaster. To start with he was all fantastic, but seems to be slipping lately. Hopefully he can pull it back up again.

Tottenham GAVE UP against Liverpool, admits Spurs 'keeper Hugo Lloris
The French stopper says his side had no answer for Liverpool's in-form Luis Suarez as Spurs slumped to a 5-0 defeat that saw Andre Villas-Boas get the sack

Hugo Lloris has revealed the real depth of Tottenham’s capitulation against Liverpool and how it led to the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.

It was the 5-0 humiliation at White Hart Lane a week ago that prompted action from chairman Daniel Levy and AVB was axed less than 24 hours later.

The hammering came just four weeks after Spurs were thrashed 6-0 by Emirates Marketing Project.

And although Tottenham beat Fulham and Sunderland after the defeat at City, Lloris admitted he and his team-mates could not cope with what confronted them at the Etihad and then Liverpool.

“We didn’t find a solution on the pitch in those games,” said the France *international goalkeeper.

“In the last game against Liverpool, I think the team gave up.”

Lloris did not excuse himself from his responsibility in the matches that *ultimately led to the exit of Villas-Boas.

“It was the first time I had conceded six goals in one game,” he said.

“It was also my first experience of losing 5-0 at home.”

Looking back on the Liverpool setback and the danger posed by Luis Suarez, Lloris admitted: “We played a good team, who will be close to the top four, and have someone who is probably the best in the Premier League at the moment.

“They played well, they are strong, they kept possession, but have a direct game as well and played on our weakness.”

Villas-Boas has been replaced – for the time being at least – by Tim *Sherwood although his chances of being offered the manager’s job permanently diminished when West Ham defeated Tottenham 2-1 at White Hart Lane in a Capital One Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night.

It has been a traumatic time of upheaval at Tottenham. The squad, out-played against Liverpool and out-fought against West Ham, take on Southampton at St Mary’s today. *Arguably the surprise team of the season under manager Mauricio *Pochettino, Lloris acknowledged it will be a severe test of Tottenham’s powers of recovery if they are to resume their push for a Champions League place.

“The main thing for us is to finish in the top four,” he said.

There is also silverware on offer in the Europa League and FA Cup where Spurs face North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates in the third round.

It is, Lloris admitted, “a big *challenge”. He added: “We’ll believe in ourselves and try to get things right quickly.”

He also stressed it was *important the team did not let the change in *management affect their targets for the season.

On Villas-Boas leaving, he said: “We know we have had some bad results, like City and *Liverpool.

“It is a decision of the club and you have to respect it.

“The season is not finished. You have to keep your ambition.

“We have not lost everything.

“It is still possible to finish in the top four.

“We need to believe and get confidence as soon as we can.”

Fine sentiment, but hopefully he and the rest of the squad walk the ****ing talk..

They are just as much to blame as AVB for our poor performances of late, but you can't sack an entire squad..

I just want to see motivated and dedicated players, for whatever reason when playing under AVB, we haven't seen that enough this season.

it still puts a dark cloud over AVB , his training, his preparation, his coaching , his management.

For Lloris to say that its almost like no one had a clue what to do and how to recover.

he would have been better to say no comment

How do you draw those conclusions from what he is said? It sounds to me that you are projecting your views onto him and taking any acknowledgement of a problem from someone at the club of confirmation.

That's what he does! :ross:

He says the team gave up...that says it all.

A man says they dont have any ideas of how to tackle a problem on the pitch and that they lost fight and gave up in a professional premier league match...i'm going to blame preparation and the guiding hand behind the team and the person whose job it is to instill belief when it wanes

please i would really appreciate it that you dont perform a straw man and putting motives / agendas into my post. Please refrain from doing that in the future as best you can since giving me a wide birth is out of your capability

Thank you.

I dont know why i am accused of being agenda driven in that post.....and naturally it incites people to have a pop and plants ideas

Maybe i should have quantified it with a date stamp

"it puts a dark cloud over his coaching and management this season."
