If Lloris misses the ball or lets it through his hands then he is in trouble. If he still collides with Lukaku then it could be interpreted as preventing Lukaku from gettting the ball. A red is quite possible for preventing the goal scoring opportunity.
Likewise, if Lukaku had got to the ball first and nudged it beyond Lloris, Lloris would be in danger of a red if he still collides with Lukaku.
As it happened, Lloris got there first, Lukaku rightly gets a yellow for the foul as he got there too late. A red just because the collision was a bad one would be very unfair as he looked intent on getting the ball and wasn't being reckless.
Overall, Lloris is the one taking the risks, either of giving away a penalty or to his person. It's a very fine line between being a great goalkeeper or a clumsy one.
