Harry Kane MBE

Interesting that you are calling fans who have lost respect for Kane small minded.

Perhaps I am conservative but the way I was raised up - a good name is worth far more than riches. Harry Kane has sullied his good name and that of the club with his actions. He may eventually be our greatest ever goal scorer but that doesn't give grounds for the behaviour we have witnessed from him since the end of the season. To deny that is to be dishonest with your fellow fans.

But either way, the man deserves our respect AND thanks for all he has done for the club. To deny him that because he has been out of his depth in handling his move would in my mind be small-minded.

No he doesn't, lets be clear

- Harry Kane wasn't some kid prodigy that would have torn it up regardless of where he went, he had a bunch of mediocre loans until he was what? 22?
- Spurs stuck with him, Spurs gave him the opportunity, Spurs gave him a 6 year contract when no one knew if his fudging ankles would last another season.

Want to leave for bigger things, feel you given Spurs enough = no problem, don't agree but can at least see why you want to.
To purposely try to sabotage the club, to play a multi-month campaign to set a low ball price to benefit fudging City? an oil state, fudging really?

Kane has been a great player for us, but life doesn't work like that, ten years of charity doesn't give me a free murder pass, he doesn't get our respect, or thanks, fudge him.

I think Harry’s current mental state should be taken into account.

I imagine he’s feeling incredibly schitty right now with how everything has gone down. And of course, naturally it’s mainly his own and brothers doing, so sympathy, quite rightly is probably going to be in short supply at the moment.

how we handle this as a club and fan base could define us though.

Beyond transfer deadline, if he doesn’t get his move, which I believe he has scuppered, we all will need to move forward.

I don’t know about his team mates, or Levy and his new manager but as fans it’s a good opportunity to show that we can emphasise and forgive.

we could potentially show the world that you should never trade love for money and ucl football like Grealish has done.

It’s better to be adored at your own than considered another trinket by greedy fans at city.

so yes, our anger will need to fade in the long run, if he remains, because he’s not going to be right for a while, but we will need him simple as that.

The club and fans need to handle this correctly, and I very much hope that we do.

He has been played.

I think City probably tapped him up last summer.

He is already trying to set the table for a full-press reverse. I cannot even get angry at Charlie TBH, the bloke is way out of his depth with these players either side. Harry has to take the blame for not hiring a proper agent if he wanted this sort of move OR not investing in the Hugo-style knowledge to do it himself. He has essentially fallen for the oldest trick in the book -anyone can do this!- and found out what wise people know; if your toilet is broken and flooding the floor, you're better off hiring an expert (plumber) rather than doing it yourself. Football is an ugly, ugly business, and the Kanes have seen a whole other level of that. They will now have to deal with something they've never had to before; image damage limitation. It will be interesting to see how that goes...

People in here doing Kane's PR for him already. Just so they can feel something the next time he scores for us.

Acting like he was doing all of us a favour for playing for our little club.

Have some self respect.

He is and was the highest paid player in this clubs history.

In the last 5 years alone he has taken at a minimum £45m in wages from the club.

Poor little Harry led astray by his brother.

Don't think for a moment that hanger on is making the decisions. Harry is the man making the decisions. Charlie can't believe his luck to be along for the ride.

We have all saw him lie to camera just so he could claim a goal ffs.

Today he put out a statement right before a big signing, hoping that Romero would take some of the attention off his lies.

Personally I've been done with him since the Sky interview. It's gotten to the stage where I can see him end up at Chelsea.

So much vitriol on here against a player who has given outstanding service to the club because he has had the temerity to ask to leave.

We all know it is very rare nowadays for any player to go through their entire career playing for one club and until he made his wishes known, practically every poster on here agreed his departure was inevitable.

However these situations always seem to turn nasty whenever our world class players are involved (Berbatov, Modric, Bale and now Kane) but it's hard to ignore the fact that the common denominator in all of this is a certain Daniel Levy.

Not that I blame DL in the slightest, on the contrary I congratulate him for doing what every good chairman should do in putting the interests of the club first. Having said that, we do know that this is likely to drag on to the last day of the window and that alone is likely to have a negative impact on our prospects for the coming season, so Daniel's tactics are not without their costs.
Noone blames him for wanting the move. What is unacceptable is him trying to force us to accept a lowball offer from city to achieve that move.

Whereever he moves to, that club have to pay an appropriate price for a top tier world class striker with 3 years on his contract. City or whoever else need to pay up or shut up.
For clarity that price is £160m,+.

As for saying kane doesn't owe us anything I'm calling bs on that

Are you honestly telling me a club like city wouldn't have shipped him out permanently to the lower league's long before he got his career off the ground with spurs?

Who else would have given him the prioritisation, power, and support to develop his career like we have? At what other club would he have been able to force himself into the biggest games regardless of fitness? Would that happen at city? (No). Is he guaranteed game time at city? (No.) Despite all this has he bottled it in 4 finals for us? Yes! We've given him the platform to win trophies and he frankly hasn't taken it.

We broke our wage structure twice for him for ffs!

Because Spurs have never done that, right? Because Spurs fans are showing a lot of patience and respect for Harry Winks, a player who

Harry is the player he is because it was the perfect combination of timing, support from the club, natural talent and an incredible work ethic. He didn’t get some magic pill from Tottenham.

What relevance does winks' situation have to harry kane? There is clearly some talent there but winks has never lived up to his potential so now finds on the fringes of the squad. He has been given more than enough opportunities to prove himself.

I'm not saying kane doesn't have talent and hard work, clearly he does. But we gave him the platform to succeed and gave him much more time, support and opportunity to succeed than he would have got elsewhere. So to say he doesn't owe us anything is gonads.
You also can't deny that he underperformed in each final that he has played in for us...he say he wants to win trophies but he has had those opportunities with us and under delivered

Understood, except for that last bit.
Daniel Levy will never sell to Chelski.

Again, I think the key thing here is that HE has allowed himself to be played by some very very skillful arseholes. If I were his brother, I'd be telling my client (and brother) that they've both been stitched up by people who clearly are not going to make an honest offer and will walk away, and as such, I'd be advising that he commit to the club for this season and play his way into an amicable exit next summer for a club abroad willing to behave with a little more dignity than those fudging clams up at City. I include Pep in the 'clam' list BTW. Harry's just a fool, so's Charlie. Pep and co? Low low arseholes.

It does make me laugh ‘I’ve never refused to train’ well if that was the case the club would have told the press at the beginning of the week that Kane wasn’t due in.

Am I annoyed he tried to force a move. Not really. We all knew it was going to come at some point if we hadn’t started winning stuff or dropped out of CL for several seasons. Unfortunately it’s the only way to try and force Levy’s hand.

However I don’t really understand the clamour to join City. Would probably have a chance to win it all. But you’re expected to win it all at a club like that with a blank cheque book. If Spurs were win a few things they would be much higher in terms of achievement due to our complete lack of silver ware imo.

Agreed, I used to admire pep but now I feel he's just a weasel. The way they are playing the victim card because we won't sell them our best player on the cheap infuriates me!

Quite, I’ve never seen such a good player potentially leaving met with good Will/understanding by the fans.

All Kane had to do is sit tight and wait for City to bid, keep it behind closed doors and then ask them why they don’t value him highly enough.

What does he owe us? Surely it's been a fair transaction; Spurs pay his wages and support him, he's banged in the goals for 6 years now.

I agree that his complaints about not winning anything are rich, but I also understand that it doesn't look like we're getting back to our 2016/17 peak anytime soon. He doesn't have much time to waste, so I understand his desire to move.

Winks' relevance is that we're ready to demand loyalty from a player, but we don't give it in return unless it absolutely suits us.

Where do you think he'd have ended up if Spurs hadn't taken a chance on a tubby, little gooner?

Probably wouldn't have made it as far as Orient.
