Harry Kane MBE

That is about as clear as mud.
1. If this is indeed true, why didn't he adress this sooner, instead of letting it escalate for a week?

2. Pretty sure someone from the club would have let it be known if this extended vacation was approved by the club.

3. This is warp speed back peddling.

4. Poor sport to try to shift blame and be disappointed in your fans, who have adored you for a decade, and try to make your own fans feel guilty.
I kind of don't mind it.
Let's not dismiss the impact of the gutter press in whipping something up here.
Let's not also not dismiss the murky footballing world and numerous bad actors.
The statement is in line with his attitude to professionalism.
He has probably been screwed over by the business process:
Man C tell Charlie "this is the summer for the big move, we need you gently twist Spurs wrist".
City then try to massively underbid Levy - silly game.
Levy has told a decent offer, circa £160m, is a position we can work with.
City bottle it after getting low balled and instead go for the current flavour of the month, sorry "marque signing", Grealish.
Harry is left up brick creek and looking like a fool.

His statement shows me he still wants to go somewhere bigger - that's fair enough.
He's upset at some of the waaay OTT comments - fair enough.
He'll stay professional, including if the move doesn't come off.

That's pretty honest tbh. No trumping.
Compare it to Judas - captain and "spurs through and through".....six months before leaving on free. Can't quite remember where he went in the end.

Yep. Quite clear that he's somehow rationalised this in his head and is trying to justify it in conjunction with his halfwit brother.

I'm sure the club are playing the PR game here as well but for me it comes down to this. Was Kane expected back on Monday by the club (who he has a contract with) and did he show up. I firmly believe he was expected and didn't show up and hasn't offered a decent explanation. I'm also pretty sure none of the other 20-30 players are in this position.

He's disrespected us and the club. I adored Harry but it's hard to see a way back from here. He may stay but he won't be loved in the same way unless something comes out that supports his wishy washy case.
Yeah I agree, and one of the strangest aspects of this is that he hasn't yet spoken to his new manager since Nuno since was appointed 5 weeks ago on 30 June. Club captain and manager haven't yet spoken, not even a one minute call.

Agreed. Not the most glorious moment of his career and one which we could have done without

Its in all parties interest for him to knuckle down and score 30 goals this coming season

I'd then be very happy to take £100m for him

In a way its quite endearing that he has a two-bob approach to media relations and transfers. It is not a well run operation. And so what. Who cares? Would it be better if Kane's career was run like a spin doctor? Not for me. He could have played it better no doubt, he could have said he understood fans frustrations and explained he needed an extended break for his body.

Why do football fans expect media-savvy shrewd operators from young guys who have forgone most of their education to focus on how to kick a ball into an onion bag? I will certainly give him a break, and hope he signs a new contract with us. Put in a release clause of 165m.

I wouldn’t be shocked if he signed a new deal after this.

I wouldn't be shocked. But i'd be very surprised if it was before xmas. Levy won't want to send a message to other players that if you want an improved contract go on strike. But can see levy telling harry put your head down, score goals and we'll have talks of improving your contract. City's stupid grealish deal has raised the bar again. A salary cap needs to come in soon.

Hugo is club captain.

However your point is valid. In fact the story is actually worse. Santo said only yesterday he wanted everything done in private, then this statement comes out today.

If only there was some sort of service where someone, let’s call this person an agent, could manage your public image and PR. Given how important that sort of thing is to the rich and famous I think I’ve found a gap in the market that’ll make me rich.

This statement from Kane is entirely in keeping with the way this whole sorry affair has unfolded right from the start! It’s total nonsense, obviously, and has been handled totally unprofessionally. Frankly, I’d have respected him more if he’d said “I’m sorry. I made a mess of this. Can we get back to playing football?” Or similar. I genuinely understand him being upset at some of the fans comments, but it’s not like this has all happened in a day and views became steadily more negative through the week. He’s had FIVE days to make a statement of some kind. A person can do an awful lot in five days. For example, I can run an entire mile.

Sorry Harry but that’s gonads. You know it. We know it.

Not buying it at all, mp way the club told him he could turn up a week after everyone else for starters.

Hugo is team captain isn't he? Harry is club captain?

I like the way the statement doesn’t rule out a transfer at all, just tries to appease the fans. You’re fooling no one pal.

What I think is funny is how most fans would be very understanding of him moving this year, but he’s just gone about it all wrong. He needed to lobby City, not Spurs, about getting it done, as others have said, and get them to pay a rate commensurate with his talents.

To be honest i hope City come up with the price we want, i would have never blamed him for wanting to leave for another club to win things but his actions over the last few days has ( imo) made a mockery of his reputation as " one of our own">

Lets get the money and spend it on players who WANT to play for our great club.
