Guglielmo Vicario

He stood up strong to a few shots today. Just stand still and big and it whacks off your clavicle and out for a corner. Very good. No need to flip flop around and rush out and dive in, just stand there like a giant mannequin and take it in the chops.

He was visibly calmer today than he has been of late, which helped everyone. When he flaps (mentally not physically) it seems to affect the back four badly.

I think the flaps are more from the back 4 often just being a back 2, we defended with numbers today and he looked much better for it.

City also didn’t crowd him on corners (what the fudge was Pep thinking?) and he dealt with those more comfortably.

sort of. I think there's a nervous energy to his performances some times which is reflected in the performances of those in front of him. He looked calmer tonight and the saves never looked in doubt - I was expecting him to save them.

Same, he’s always been a great shot stopper, in the mould of Buffon.

I worry we expect too much of him.

fudging annoying the way the media and some fans bang on about his vulnerability to corners and crosses. Name me a current PL keeper that doesn't have a weakness of one sort or another? Or one who is a better shot-stopper?

It's not as though he has the tightest defence in the league in front of him right now either.

He deserves more respect and we are very lucky to have him.

My thoughts as well, fairly young for a keeper as well.

I think this was his best ever Tottenham performance
I’d agree. He seemed so much calmer yesterday (his reaction was interesting when Sarr and KDB got involved with handbags in the box) and he looked more commanding and confident. Again, I wonder if Davies is a good influence in there?

It’s just unfortunate that his main weakness affects the rest of the team when we defend set pieces. It’s not a good thing when your keeper is nervous, it makes the defence edgy so it’s a vicious circle. Yesterday he didn’t put a foot wrong. Would still like him to be more commanding at set pieces, clatter into people and assert yourself, keepers are so molly coddled by the officials he’s gonna have to maim someone to give away a penalty.

Pulled off some fantastic saves last night.

He does have that chatterbox nervous energy about him. Which can actually be annoying....there was a shot of him chewing Maddisons ear off ...with Maddison having the look of 'yeah ok,ok,ok,ok,ok,ok' can I go now :).

I know many keepers are as crazy as a box of frogs but I think calmness can help the men in front of them.

Most goalkeepers have weaknesses that negatively impacts the rest of the team.

I hope he will become more predictable in those set piece situations. I think he and the team are dealing with those better now than last season.

That's the thing, there clearly has been improvements both via numbers (how many we concede from set pieces) and eye test, he comes for more now, there was moment later in game when City floated a cross in and he just came, got it (held it) and it just killed the chance completely.

He's easily top 5 keeper in league and we are extremely lucky that we have managed to transition from Lloris to him without a few failed attempts to replace in between
