Guglielmo Vicario

Which I think is the plan
The club in my opinion has a plan for every position now
And that includes succession planning
We wouldn’t have signed the the younger keepers like Keeley if we didn’t see the potential for the to grow in the club imo
Keeley is doing really well and I think will be ready for a regular first team squad role in 18 months

Both Keely and Gunther are really good, and frankly if it was me, I'd give one of them the chance based on the fact they train with our system regularly (well, Gunther does right now).

I think the key difference when you look at our rival's backups is that they suit the style of football their side plays. Forster is simply an experienced and massive unit. I am not sure he suits what we do as a team. Still, we are where we are...as said several times before, here's hoping he comes through with flying colours...
Yeah that may be right
I’ll be honest and say I don’t know who lost back up keeper are
City’s I do
Arsenal have the Bournemouth guy on loan
Chelsea.. could be anyone and their first choice is weak
Pool have a gig good enough to start at most sides anyway
United… no idea
Villa… no idea
Brighton… no idea

I expect Forster to do some great things and fail at some other things that he simply can’t do
I don’t think we will see brain farts or stupidity
I think he will be very functional

There have not been many [ if any] back up keepers for the number 1 [ in any club] choice that are better then the man in posistion. I have heard fans complain about most of our number 2s over the years and yet they have been some very good 2nd choices but for some reason fans bitch about how crap they are.

It happens at every club and we are no different, it seems like some fans just like to use it to have yet another bitch about LEVY, ANGE, etc. Of course it not good news about Vicario but i expect that most clubs fans say the same things when/if their number 1 gets injured.

Lets be honest the back up keeper is never going to be better then any number 1, because IF they were they would not be a back upkeeper they would be first choice elsewhere.

I feel the need to offer some context here as I am sure I would number someone seen as 'complaining' (I know you're not saying that mate, but I have been!!!!)...

My main concern in this situation is not whether we have enough back-up keepers, it is who is prepared and trained in the way we like to play versus who is ready to give it a go. I agree, rarely will your back-up be as good as your first choice (albeit Liverpool and City bunk that trend) but my biggest issue with giving Forster a contract renewal versus getting someone else in is that Forster is not good with his feet, not a passer, and probably not the best keeper we can have in the sense of how we like to play. I think in most situations the back-up keeper is one of those 'get in some experience' positions, but in our case -the way Ange works- it's very specific.

Again, here's to Fraser proving me wrong and showing that he has grown and grown again.

You make some valid points and and i can agree with some of them, however it would not matter who our back up keeper was/is there will always be some fans who will complain that whoever it was they would not be good enough.

I think our needs for Ange ball are very specific
And the said issues With HG and club trained make the issue even more pronounced
It shows the issues we have had with teh rebuild and squad building for some time.
Having to enable out a young ish English player from a European squad is so daft
It’s why I’m speculating that we what angel gomes in and we will offload Bentacur (a guy I rate highly)
But for us to have No left back back up Or only 3 Cbs (whichever way you carve it)
And 4 GKs who have played less than 80 games for us in total is nuts
And then add in that we’re actually also missing some players who the deacons we made were all for including (Europa games to get or keep fit players like Richy, odebert, Moore, plus one or two of Drago and Davies who are now starting)
It’s just mad and so typically Tottenham

Exactly.
It starts with the keeper.
Here's to Forster having done some ballet training and been coached by Pirlo onn the side!
