Guglielmo Vicario

But that's the club's job!!!!

Of course the club and/or Ange aren't going to say anything publicly. In fact I expect Ange to give Forster a glowing review in the Roma presser.

We clearly have different expectations when it comes to certain ways the mgmt handle things. I hope it works out well for us all, but I won't lie, given the football we play and the importance of Vic to it, I am not confident.

Here's to me being wrong!
Who are you talking about with regards to management here?

Reminds me of a similar conversation we had recently. Was it Levy or the board insisting that we stick with Forster or was it a footballing decision that we'd on the whole be better off sticking with Forster and spending whatever money a new backup keeper would cost elsewhere?

I'm sure I'm gonna have a meltdown at some point when Fraser costs us (really hoping he doesn't) and I don't want anyone telling me I'm kneejerking as I been wanting another keeper for a while and was not over overjoyed when we gave him another extension 😀

Well whoever it is....wasn't a great decision. If youngsters weren't ready why keep continuing with someone who is not very mobile and give another extension to? If we were just "hoping" Vic went a possible 50 games being fine. Then not much more to say.

It was the same with Kane for what felt like 15yrs before we got someone

Exactly. Someone has made that decision. We will probably never find out who. And hey, if Forster steps up then all good, right?

We have had three windows to figure out a decent backup to Vic. Hopefully, the mgmt felt that Forster, Austin and Whiteman were the answer to that. Again, here's to forum postees like me getting their a r s e s handed to them on a plate my friend. But I'd be a liar if I didn't say I was concerned.

This injury will really tell me if Ange is prepared to adapt his style....

Against Galatasaray, Forster did very well at stopping shots and claiming high balls. However, with the ball at his feet he was dreadful.

Vicario is a great keeper at playing out from the back and was probably bought for that purpose....

If we continue to play the same way with Forster in goal I think it will cost us many goals and if the rest of the team lose confidence in the keeper it will spread throughout the team and even more mistakes will occur.

Come on Ange, accept the weakness and change our playing style to suit the players you can put on the pitch.....

The club have several keepers
They ain’t as good as Vicario though
But it’s conduct the worst position to recruit for
It’s why most back ups are like Forster
Older past its
Or new and young players coming through the club

It might actually be ok with Davies and Dragusin. I can imagine Davies just shouting 'away!', telling Forster not to try anything fancy lol. Who knows though..

I won't be a hypocrite here. I've been preaching for what feels like half a lifetime that Spurs need to stop buying quantity and focus on a very few quality signings + youngsters. We have done that, and chose to give Forster a one-year extension as the compromise.

I hate the transfer windows when we share the budget too thin and have 6-8 senior pros walk through the door. Everyone gets excited and pretends that they will be the best thing since sliced bread. Then everyone is dissing most of them, if not all of them, within a year for not being good enough. We've followed that pattern since time began. It doesn't work.

What I'm expecting to happen is that Forster will be as able a backup as Davies has been. Davies isn't a VDV. Forster won't be a Venom, but will be just fine. Both old heads can deal with the pressure of a mistake or two and keep it together. Both have leadership traits.

We've got
Forster
Whiteman
Austin
Keeley
Gunter

Forster obviously has to be given the chance BUT if it looks like a dogs dinner out the gate let's just roll the dice with one of the others.

I've always found it interesting that we have a 3rd and 4th choice that appears similarly thought about. Although Austin has received the extended contract so maybe that says something?

I'm not sure if we can recall Keeley from Orient in January but he has a couple of years on Gunter.

Perhaps a silver lining might be that one of the younger ones stakes a claim to be a serious no.2 for next season?

Which I think is the plan
The club in my opinion has a plan for every position now
And that includes succession planning
We wouldn’t have signed the the younger keepers like Keeley if we didn’t see the potential for the to grow in the club imo
Keeley is doing really well and I think will be ready for a regular first team squad role in 18 months

I also saw Karsniqi listed on the website (U21s). Don't know anything about him to be honest.

Whiteman missed a year with a big injury, so I imagine he didn't leave in the summer because he wasn't physically up to trialling with anyone at that point. He's a free agent in June anyway.

Austin's long contract feels the weirdest decision we've made since Gedson.

No
Solanke to win Luke he does so well
I'd settle for long punts out for a throw in just so we can recover and reset to be honest, anything but watching Forster, Dragusin and Bissouma trying to beat a press.

You are right though, The odd ball to Solanke is very useful. His hold up ay has been excellent so far.
