Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Levy should meet him but spend the whole time offering derisory sums for Ronaldo and refusing to talk about Bale

Or even better, ring him and say "Hi Flo! Here's the postcode for your satnav....L4 0TH - ask for Luis when you get here"

Re: Gareth Bale

Not the greatest of sources...but there is a quote:

AVB tells Marca Gareth Bale is NOT leaving Spurs for Real Madrid

It is no surprise to see a picture of Gareth Bale at the top of Marca’s website this summer, today is an exception though in that the latest instalment of what could be a summer-long transfer saga is that the Spurs forward is not heading to Real Madrid.

Marca have secured quotes from Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas who claims the Welsh forward will not be leaving White Hart Lane this summer.

Gareth Bale is Real Madrid’s prime summer priority but Marca suggest president Florentino Perez will not make any more public pronouncements due to his relationship with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

AVB says: “We have the chairman’s commitment that Bale will not leave the club.”

It is understood that AVB received another assurance that Bale will stay at Spurs after recent suggestions that the Portuguese coach would be off to take over at French champions PSG.

Villas-Boas was offered a three-year deal in Paris, worth 5 million euros a season but rejected the opportunity partly due to the assurances of Daniel Levy that Bale will stay.

Marca predict that the “Chess game” will continue and that Real Madrid still think they can sign Bale due to the fact Tottenham won’t be in the Champions League next season

Re: Gareth Bale

AVB is playing a Redknapp like game which i'm happy about on this occasion. Continuously going on about Levy's assurances to put even more pressure on Levy to stick to his word and keep Bale. Keep it up Andre.

"AVB says: “We have the chairman’s commitment that Bale will not leave the club.”

I'd expect the same type of comment if AVB and Levy had secretly agreed that selling Bale for £80m and generally strengthening the first XI was the best option for the club.

I don't give 2 bricks about the £80 million I much prefer to keep Bale at the Lane. Tell Madrid to fu*k off back to bankrupt Spain.

Gareth Bale will be at Tottenham next season, insists André Villas-Boas

André Villas-Boas insists Gareth Bale will not be leaving White Hart Lane this summer despite Real Madrid's very public pursuit of the coveted Tottenham forward.

Real have not hidden their desire to sign Bale, with their club ambassador Zinedine Zidane making a number of flattering comments about the Welshman, who scored 31 goals for club and country last season.

Yet Daniel Levy pledged not to let go of the north London club's leading performers this summer, and Villas-Boas sees no reason why the Spurs chairman will go back on his word.

"We have the pledge of the chairman that Bale is not going to leave the club," the Tottenham manager is quoted as saying in the Madrid-based newspaper Marca.

Real's partnership with Tottenham – forged last year following the sale of Luka Modric to the nine-times European champions – has not stopped Zidane flirting with the idea of Bale moving to the Bernabéu this summer.

In May the former France star said Bale, who has recently returned from his holidays in the United States, would fit in well at the Spanish club and last weekend he intimated that Bale could speed up a transfer if he asked to leave Tottenham.

Franco Baldini's appointment as director of football has raised hopes that Spurs will start moving to bring in new recruits soon, but it is understood that the club are unlikely to announce any signings in the next couple of weeks.

Villas-Boas will be hoping that Baldini can land at least one big-name player this summer after missing out on João Moutinho and Leandro Damião in the last two windows.

A striker remains a priority for the Portuguese because of Tottenham's reliance on Bale last season. The Barcelona forward David Villa is a leading target, but it is thought that Tottenham's interest in Damião has cooled.

Fellow Brazilians Paulinho and Bernard are also reported to be on Villas-Boas's radar as he looks to secure the top-four spot that eluded the north London club last term.

sounds like he's just relaying what Levy has told him rather than putting pressure on him to me

I agree. If he was playing a Redknapp like game he'd have said something different and contradictory every day since the end of the season.

Re: Gareth Bale

If this was an isolated incident then maybe but i'm pretty sure he has his motives when he does this. He's said similar things quite a few times so i'm pretty sure he's doing it for a reason.

Re: Gareth Bale

He's not playing games. He was told a while back that the player would not be sold and that's that. He's answering a question. If he was playing 'Harry' games he'd have been parping off for weeks now.

Re: Gareth Bale

I remember when Levy UNEQUIVOCALLY said that Modric is NOT leaving and then a week or two later Harry comes out with something like "if he wants to leave then maybe it's best to let him go, we could bring in 3 top players with the money". Levy must've been like ](*,)

Harry was a grade A taco for that.

First he said we shouldn't sell Luka no matter how big the offer is but as soon as Levy declares he isn't for sale, Redknapp comes out with that flimflam. He was playing a very dirty game.
