Re: Gareth Bale

Should probably start a new thread in the Transfers section, but Marek Hamšík, a little under the radar now. But according to these stats, as good as Bale. Would like us to see if we can temp him - he and his family have been mugged at knife point twice recently, so maybe a time to get in there.

According to that Benteke is better than Falcao....

Re: Gareth Bale

Not quite. According to that Benteke was better last season than Falcao, which I don't think is that outlandish.

Re: Gareth Bale

I’m just going to pass on what I’ve been told by a spurs supporting old school friend of mine last sunday;

He said that he had been told by his brother (who works in the ‘sports industry’) that Bale will be sold to Madrid for £80M. He said that Madrid are just waiting for their new manager to be appointed and then it will be announced.
I said I didn’t believe it and he just said ‘remember where you heard it first…’
I then asked him who his brother supported; he used to be a Spurs fan but was now a Gooner! There’s your answer then I said; clearly on a wind up.

I then went back to him today and asked him what he himself believed (and I reminded him that I had a bet with two Gooners that Bale stays otherwise I have to buy two sets of lunches for a week…). He said in his opinion Bale is off and that his brother would not wind him up like that…

Thoughts..????

Not having a go at you, I realize that you're just passing this on.

I see absolutely no reason to believe what you're saying though. Unless your friend's brother works at or very close to Spurs there is no reason for him to know this just because he works in the sports industry. If this was well known within an entire industry like this it would be known in the press and the rumours would be flying a lot more than they currently are I think. How this could be known in an industry, to the point where people are telling their families who are again telling their friends then some journo would have been running with this a long time ago.

If this was agreed I think we would see different comments from Bale, or no comments at all. I also think we would see different comments from Real.

Lastly, Perez doesn't strike me as the kind of chairman that needs a manager in place for him to announce a signing, quite the opposite in fact. I think Perez would love sitting next to Bale getting all the credit and all the attention from a signing like this without having to share it with a manager.

Re: Gareth Bale

This is the main thing that gives me hope [-o<

However could it be argued that they've toned things down over the last couple of weeks??:-k

The only reason they have toned it down is because Levy has instructed/asked them to too.
The wooing continues though with zidane rearing his bald head every other day saying madrid have the cojones to sign madrid....

put it this way if psg, madrid are serious then they can bid it out if they want.

how does/will levy operate....?????? well any initial bid will be rejected by Levy outright.......I reckon if psg or madrid bid it will prob start around 70-75 mil Madrid/psg know their first official bid will be rejected.....the intention of the first bid is to be made public - unsettle the player and draw out any other interested parties......

Madrid/psg are probably waiting for Bale to return to the uk so he feels the impact of any bid made.

Personally I think Bale is decent and I would like to think he wont agitate for a move...hand in transf request which all plays nicely into Levy's hands.....if the player doesnt agitate then how much do psg/madrid want him...... the longer it plays out the more cash we could get however it will be detrimental to us building a squad...preparing for pre-season.

I know the likes of Steff dont want to keep repeating themselves so here is what I think will happen soon.
Madrid or PSG bid for bale (70-75m) all over ssn & papers when bale is back from hols.
Bid rejected

2nd party may bid.

Levy will keep rejecting but will Not make official statement on website stating he wont be sold......
My own opinion is that it will take 90M for Levy to be unable to turn offer down...... of course Bale's wishes come into it.......

I love the he's staying comments and want him to stay so badly but YES there will be bids for him and none of us know Bale personally or Levy for that matter.
I really hope we can fend off/stand up to playground bullys!!!!! psg and madrid....massive pressure coming levy's way real soon if not already banging on his door.

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm hoping that Bale will be tinkled off with Perez going on about him being a commodity/investment that will be worth the initial outlay.

Re: Gareth Bale

Today's Daily Fail: PSG preparing to outbid Real with a bid in the region of £85 million.

Re: Gareth Bale

I've seen £85m quoted quite a lot. Just because you don't want Bale to PSG to happen doesn't mean it won't.

What kind of evidence do you want? An undercover conversation with Daniel Levy where the number £85m is captured on video?

Re: Gareth Bale

Its the close season, there is nothing going on as most are on holiday, newspaper editors still need column inches and papers to be sold..

Its all flimflam, move along

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm not denying that they make stuff up to sell newspapers but you can't 100% for a fact say it isn't true and won't happen. PSG probably the richest club in the world wanting the most sought-after player in the world isn't a stretch.

Any evidence at all would make it more credible. There is none.

It's not that i don't want Bale to go, it's that the media are really brick at this. You just have to look back at last season and Modric to see how bad they are.

Re: Gareth Bale

They said Modric was going to Madrid and he did?

Yeah, but they spent the entire summer guessing figures. One of which was probably correct, but moreso due to the sheer number of guesses they had rather than anything else.

Look at the summer before as well. Oh, the media say Modric was going to Chelsea. Did it happen?

In light of a lack of evidence, the conclusion should be ignored.

Re: Gareth Bale

Modric and THFC both confirmed that Chelsea wanted him and made a number of bids. Just because he never ended up there doesn't mean they were wrong.
