Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

The desperation from Madrid is laughable...

I think they are losing Ronaldo (my hunch) hence the desperation. Although is it really desperation? I mean thats how they act in a recurring manner - its become routine every summer.

Re: Gareth Bale

Modric joining the tapping up circus now....

Luka Modric believes Gareth Bale would 'fit perfectly' at Real Madrid were he to follow him from Tottenham Hotspur to Spain.

Modric left White Hart Lane for Santiago Bernabeu last summer, with the Croatian playmaker pushing for a switch as deadline day loomed.

There is a possibility that path will be trodden again in 2013, with Real making no secret of their admiration for Spurs forward Bale.

Florentino Perez - recently re-elected as Real president - has claimed that he would have no problem sanctioning a record-breaking move for Bale, with £80million bids mooted.

Modric believes a transfer would be beneficial to all concerned, with the Bernabeu providing an ideal stage for a player of Bale's ability to showcase his talent.

He told Marca: "It is a complicated issue for me because I was at Tottenham with him. I can tell you that we're friends and that he is an exceptional player.

"A club like Real Madrid, Tottenham or anyone else can only benefit from having a player like that.

"As Real Madrid is a team of stars, Bale would fit perfectly. He would give us a different dimension."
Luka Modric

"If he signs or not is a matter for the clubs, but if he ends up at Real Madrid that can only be good for us.

"As Real Madrid is a team of stars, Bale would fit perfectly. He would give us a different dimension. He can shoot, has strength and speed and is the type of player who could help us take a step forward."
Future

It remains to be seen whether Bale will be turning out in the Spanish capital next season, but Modric insists he will be.

He has reiterated a desire to prove himself in Madrid, with reports linking him with a possible return to England and a reunion with former Real boss Jose Mourinho at Chelsea wide of the mark.

Modric added: "I have no doubt (I will stay). I want to remain at the best club in the world.

"It is a privilege to be here. I want to show more in the future and I am not thinking about anything other than continuing here next season.

"I think Real have only seen a little bit of my game. I can perform better and offer more. In the future I hope to do that and prove to the club and the fans that they were right to bring me here.

"I want to make sure that I have a good pre-season and prepare well for next season. That is important to me."

Just as a matter of interest, is there any football club in the world where Gareth Bale wouldn't 'fit perfectly'?

I think not.

Re: Gareth Bale

And the tapping up continues...

Gareth Bale told by Zinedine Zidane to fast-track a move to Real Madrid by handing in transfer request

"If Gareth feels now is the time to move then he has to have a private discussion with his club and express that he wants to leave," ZZ says

Real Madrid sporting director Zinedine Zidane has urged Bernabeu target Gareth Bale to fast-track his move to Spain by asking to leave Tottenham, writes Steve Bates of the Sunday People .

The French legend, one of Madrid’s original Galacticos, is hoping Real can clinch an £85million deal for the double Footballer of the Year this summer .

But with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy playing hard-ball over Bale’s future, Zidane sees a transfer request from the 23-year-old midfield star as the deal-maker.

Zidane said: “I think Real Madrid have made their admiration of Gareth Bale very clear – and it has been made clear that we would not be put off by the cost of the player.

“But if Gareth feels now is the time to move then he has to have a private discussion with his club and express that he wants to leave.”

This blatant attempt to force the issue won’t go down well at White Hart Lane.

Sources at Tottenham say despite the team’s failure to make the Champions League, Bale is happy at the club and has given no indication he plans to leave this summer.

Re: Gareth Bale

It's pretty poor, and we are talking about people on Real Madrid's payroll.
This is tapping up, I think if we made a complaint to UEFA we'd have pretty strong grounds.

im not sure this tapping up business is against the rules across Europe?

Re: Gareth Bale

Thing is, if Bale is genuinely happy at Spurs and intends to stay for the time being - as we're led to believe - then Real will just end up looking stupid and not as big as they think they are.

If he wants to go, well its out of their hands anyway when you deal with Levy.

Re: Gareth Bale

everyone should join twitter and go mental at UEFA and Madrid twitter accounts.

But I do expect that the silence our end is driving them mental too
