Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Er.. We don't seem to be fighting any battle. All we seem to be doing is ignoring the loud tacos who keep commenting about us in the media.

It feels as though Real are starting to get desperate..

It appears the media are getting just as desperate...

Re: Gareth Bale

I find it funny that all paper's are reporting that Bale is demanding to leave, and we face a struggle to keep him, all the while he is on holiday and ignoring it all. He may well want to move away, but i'm pretty sure some hack from caughtoffside.com would not be the first to know

Re: Gareth Bale

At the moment, Madrid are losing their battle to get Ancelotti, thats their main priority.

When that is sorted, they will look at players. The best thing would be Bale to sign a new contract before they get their new manager.

Re: Gareth Bale

No effing way would Real give us 85m. Crazy talk with elections coming up.

BUT that would afford us Bernard (LWF/CAM), Draxler (CAM/LAM), and Lamela (RWF) which would leave us sorted for years and years (IF we were able to attract them and wring out deals with their clubs, which is the hard point ofc). Not in Bale's caliber atm but young players with world-class potential and the ideal stylistic fit for our team - throw a striker in there and we'd be stronger as a whole.

It's what Dortmund, Ajax, Porto, even Man Utd do - selling for big money is not the problem, the key is getting the replacements right.

There are two key differences between us and the years that you mentioned.

1. Most of those teams sell at the time of their choosing, and have determined which players they wil buy with the windfall, normally already having deals lined up prior to selling their star asset.

2. They all sadly have far more kudos in world football than spurs. These clubs have all competed at the top table in European football over the last 20 years, and have all won European cups over the last 20 years. This means that they are better placed to cope with losing a star player or two than spurs. As they remain a more attractive proposition than a club trying to break into the top 4 in its league, never mind competing at the top table in Europe.

The way to attract top players to spurs is to already have top players in place, it's a classic catch 22. That is why we should not sell bale this summer, or hopefully even next summer. He will help make us more attractive to other top tier talent.

Our silence is frustrating the fudge out of them lol. I can feel it.

Re: Gareth Bale

If RM offer 85 Mill we should snatch their effing hands off. Problem is whereas Man Utd or Arse would re-invest that cash wisely our chairman will bank 80 mill and spend 5 mill on a Louis Saha type signing.

Re: Gareth Bale

Even if we have £85m to spend, it's not like we have the pick of the world to spend it on, we'd still be shopping in the bracket below because top players don't want to join Tottenham Hotspur. You then have to consider that selling clubs would demand more from us for their players, plus these players don't play for free. If we signed 4x £20m players, those players are likely to want £100k a week, that's a £300k a week(£15.6m per year) rise on what we're paying Bale.

This! Keep Bale at any price!

Although you're obviously exaggerating what you're implying is completely false.

Levy has always spent the money we've made from selling our players, not always straight away, but I think just about always within the next transfer window.

Our inability to replace the best players we've sold has been down to us not finding the right players, not to us not spending the money.

I agree, part of why I think we shouldn't sell him unless we get a completely ridiculous offer. £85m is closing in on ridiculous though.

I would much rather see us sign two of those hypothetical £20m players without selling Bale and almost ensure strengthening our team for next season.

Well said.

Actually I am now very confident he will not be leaving us this summer. My gut tells me that Levy is not going to waiver this summer come what may

Re: Gareth Bale

£85m isn't a massive amount when you consider the club will make double that in turnover next year.

Re: Gareth Bale

You do have to consider that it isn't a given that all of that will go straight back into the transfer fund.
