Fraser Forster

He will no doubt improve with game time, just like Davies did at LCB.

The one challenge with Forster could be his body and age with games coming thick and fast. He hasn't got Davies's scenario where he's only ever played 20 games in the position he's been asked to fill. Forster has played hundreds of games and is a specialist at it.

The only other area might be his feet. I don't overly remember him being too tippy tappy with the passing like some of the modern keepers.

Might be a good thing, we’d benefit from mixing it up and going long imo.

We might just continue with the current selection method?

1st choice for PL... 2nd choice for EL

With Forster now first choice. Might keep him fresh?

I agree
Had that exact thought today
Providing he is given accountability for his decisions, I’d love to see him really go long a bit more

And this time, we really would have a number 9 who would compete for those balls and bring others into the game. The Kane that left us just wasn't interested in that old fashioned number 9 buffeting for those balls into his head, feet or chest.

If we did do that though, the 2 wide players would need to come in off the touchline

The cat will be amongst the pigeons if both Austin and Whiteman are overlooked. Like others have implied above, it would be just like Ange if a player like Gunter jumped to the front of the queue.

Those two are here for the club trained numbers

No
But we can’t then register someone else instead

My understanding is that we can only register 25 senior players max. You only get 25 slots if you have 4 club trained players, otherwise that 25 reduces. You're only allowed to use 4 association trained slots and your younger purchases have to be owned by the club for 2 years before they can be a free-pick U21. That means that a player like Bergval is also using one of the senior slots and why Phillips needs to be on loan as there are none left.

Give it a couple of years and we'll have no probs with the config of a UEFA squad. I reckon Whiteman and Austin will be long gone.

Yep
It’s why I think there is a plan
And it’s not short term

I like the optimism. But I also have some doubts about that. Could see him struggling quite a bit. But he's the goalkeeper we have available now so let's see what he can do.

Indeed.
We are where we are. I remain deeply hopeful that we don’t wait until January, and if a short-term veteran loan can be had to get us to January, that we go for it. Some vital games coming up.

Why would the PL or UEFA allow that? We still have 3 senior keepers.

From what I've seen of the free agents on offer none stand out to me, Who available is better than Forster? If we did sign someone and find they are no better that's more money down the drain. It's a big gamble, we are in a no win situation.
