Euro 2024 - The European Football Championship

When they are that far off just put the flag up.

Just wasting everyone's time and risking a last ditch tackle that may cause injury.

What a great second half (at least).

Some of these games remind you of the joy in football when it isn't all overthought by Pep, or bludgeoned to death by Jose.
Partly the managers, but more about the nature of international football.

Less time together, less time to drill a system. Combined with most teams having a real mix of quality within the squad and team. Some excellent or at least very good players, but then also some that are swimming uphill in honey.

Makes everything more chaotic and unpredictable, and fun. But also often leads to managers going rather safety first, which often is an effective approach. So while you get some great games (often without a ton of brilliant play) you also get quite a few paint dryers.

Interesting, to me at least, we also have some teams where quite a few of the players are partly pre drilled in a system. Many of them already playing the kind of football the national team manager would want to play. This tournament Germany and Austria at least. Think that's been a successful formula in the past for Spain for example. But can also end up being more "boring", predictable, consistent in some cases. Luckily Nagelsmann and Ragnick usually play attractive football anyway.

About to board a plane in Berlin headed for Copenhagen. Next flight is delayed, so will be there for the whole game. Any bar with a screen will probably be packed.
