'The excitement was purely the gamble to earn millions.'There is no passion here,' said Levy, admitting that neither Lewis nor himself was particularly keen on football. 'This is purely financial'.'

This one? Levy admits neither he nor Lewis were ever keen on football, in general - and given that Tottenham Hotspur is, y'know, a football club, it only stands to reason that he didn't give much of a crap about Spurs either mate.

The 'no passion here' quote is in reference to buying Rangers and the other line isn't even a direct quote.

Not even sure why it's being held up as a gotcha moment tbqh

How do all fans start going to games? With a family member to a few games, hugely successful business man then after not being a hard-core supporter home and away is understandable too if you have ever met anyone at that level who generally works 16/18 hour days

That Uni mates rumour has never surfaced beyond social media talk...would be happy to be proven wrong with fact but unlikely it exists.

Would you say someone going to a game a few times with their uncle constitutes a teal fan? Someone that lives abroad but loves the club not going is not a fan? More of a fan than someone that goes full time and boos their own players? See what I'm getting at?

Seems the "Levy isn't a fan" is just conjecture being sold as fact to double down IMO.

I'm less concerned about him being a "real fan" and more that he seems to have a rather poor understanding of football. That in itself is not the waste thing, I wonder how well Sheik Mansour really is. However with levy in the past having a very hands on influence his lack of football nous has cost at times.

Feel free to read the first match day programme with his address ... I don't think he needs to be a die hard fan ... he's just a chap that went to a game or two ... his uni mates have said so. He's in it for himself and that's it

And? Who do you think our rival clubs owners are in it for? Who do you think the Qatari's or whatever US group end up buying us will be in it for? It's all a nonsense tacked on to try and add weight to a position - but 's all irrelevant, only thing that matters is whether or not you think the club has reached it's peak under them.

And that's valid and I get it, just this "he ain't even a fan" because of an article from his Uni mates that doesn't even exist...its just abit weird TBH.

People at that level.of life are just wired different, my old boss, multi millionaire, sold her company for 74m, was adamant she was a Palace fan, had two season tickets, wouldn't say she was very passionate about football, rarely went but if you asked her she would say she was a fan....its just how those people, at times operate. They also don't have early pop Fridays or spend much time family, don't mean they don't like a beer or love their kids...just nature of beast with some

The bit about him not being interested in football is a quote by a reputed Beeb journo - it's credible, imo. And the 'no passion here' bit, imo refers to their multi-club sports and entertainment strategy approach, which he goes on about slightly below -'we chose football because [it is] the biggest money spinner'.

It isn't a particularly big gotcha moment - he's lied about other things that I hold against him a lot more than this. But it's one I remember when people go on about him being a childhood Spurs fan or whatever - don't typically bother calling it out, but it internally amuses me. ;)

But it doesn't prove what you think it does - you can be a supporter of a club whilst also not retaining a particular like of football.

Such a weird thing to be fixated on, especially when you're hanging your hat on a 25 year old quote about another football club.

Err...you've lost me there mate. Spurs play the game of association football, a sport where twenty two people kick a ball around a field for 90 minutes and then Germany win on penalties.

You're telling me that you can support a club that play a sport you have no idea about or care about, for...what,exactly? The logo? The financials?

Wouldn't surprise me if Levy was a fan of the latter, but it sort of defies belief that you can 'support' a club that plays a game you have no interest in.

There are footballers that play that don’t like the game
Some don’t even know who they are playing
We had BAE who was just that… someone who played for the money

As yesterday showed, a large portion of the fans in the stadium know nothing about football, they wouldn’t have jumped on Sanchez if they did.

Yeah, but none of them claimed to be childhood fans of clubs that played a game they hate or had no idea about.

BAE didn't say he was a lifelong Spurs supporter - as I recall his dream was to be a pornstar. That's honesty, that I get.

Refer to his match day program, he only brought spurs because arsenal or Chelsea were not for sale. He did that the profits for being in London at one of these clubs were the driving force behind the purchase

Yep
There are plenty of players that don’t like football and genuinely honest
I don’t think I’ve ever heard an honest football executive though

Chelsea were for sale
They were bankrupt

And what? Loads of owners own a rival of their club...

I don't particularly hold much of an interest in football beyond Tottenham tbh and i think there are plenty of people who are supporters of clubs who would say the same. However i doubt that's the case with Levy, he's probably just a guy who came from a Spurs supporting family and went to a few games when he was younger - as much a reason to be classed a supporter as anyone else.

Nothing to see here mate, just going by the delusion that Levy brought the club to make us great .. he brought us to make a huge wad ... none of his fairy tale stuff.

As long a they are here they will not be looking at anything else but walking off with a huge wad

Investment company like all owners, doesn't mean he isn't a fan though.

Even as a purely business situation I suspect losing hurts especially to egos at that level.

Nothing to do with fairy fales

People can present facts about him being a poor football man with profit as his goal without having to embellish in order to make him sound like the devil
