Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Its the curse of the Prem players get far too high wages, so when it does not work out its hard to move them on or even loan them out as outside of the prem there are very few clubs that can afford the wages.
I mean who would pay the reported wages we are paying Adebeyor and Soldado obviously no one otherwise one or both would be gone.
Its sickening the money pouring down the drain each month on this pair when over the last couple of seasons we could have got in any number of strikers who could have done a job for us for a fraction of the cost of these two.

Wow , reading back a few pages , methinks one or two here, are totally clueless when it comes to all that stuff about no I in TEAM, about work ethic for the collective...

The fact of the matter is, Poch was willing to see Adebayor loaned out without getting in a replacement. I think that tells us all we need to know.

I would have thought that if we could have loaned out Adebeyor it would have freed up the funds for us to sign a replacement on loan / permanent. Put the blame on Levy for these situations, we always pay inflated fees/ wages for certain players and when we try to move them on it does not go through because Levy wont take the finacial hit for the mistakes in the transfer market.

Levy gets a lot of stick for 'dragging out' transfer deals and leaving them to the last day of the window etc.
We can't then give him stick for paying what are later on seen as inflated fees/wages when those same players lose form or don't play as well as was hope.

We can't hav it both ways

It's true what you say glorygloryeze. I used to think Levy was great, you cant knock what he has done for the club, but I am getting tired of our constant how can I put it? We seem to just be too late getting things done. We never seem to "go for it". Take the new stadium plans, now I know there are a lot of factors that are out of the clubs control but we should have had a state of the art stadium and been a good way to paying off the debt. The fact is that while our rivals expand or move or whatever another season goes by and we are faced with ever spiralling costs despite the fact we have one of the wealthiest owners in the prem. I am all for the club being run correctly and that we dont do a Leeds or Portsmouth or whoever but I sometimes now wish that a rich sugar daddy would come along and I get to savour some games and a team who are really challenging for the title and not just a top 4 finish in one of the best stadiums in Europe. Its not too much to ask is it even for an old pessimist like me!

So what is he doing here still? Were he really to have been and worthy as you feel we would have our doors beaten down by the top clubs.

Instead we were listening to Palarce, Q-Pee-R and Wet Spam not wanting to buy him.

Speaks volumes.

Wages.

The fact of the matter is, Poch was willing to see Adebayor loaned out without getting in a replacement. I think that tells us all we need to know.

Or it tells us that as we're now finding some form, the last thing we'd want to do is panic buy someone at the last minute a la Gregorz Raziak who Poch then has to try to integrate into the team...

Not aimed at either of you specifically and I realise that I'm playing the man here to an extent so apologies in advance for what it's worth...but I find a lot of the views on this forum are like having an argument with the ex missus. Whether it's adebayor or levy or Soldado or whatever - people seem to cling to one part of an argument and bandy it about as if it's the be all and end all whilst flagrantly ignoring other information which is common knowledge within the public domain. My ex would take one sentence of the argument and throw it back because that was the bit she got between her teeth, all the time ignoring the other two or three pages of text. It's very similar and very strange. Example. People will say adebayor is on way too much money. We are the 6th richest club in the premier league. People ignore that factor when constructing opinions of why other clubs don't want him. Sorry whiffler I know that's directly referencing the point you've made mate but it's meant more as a generalisation about a whole host of other things.

Im confused so now Levy spends too much....

I certainly wont be calling you that lol

But can you explain why the club have been trying to sell Ade over the last two weeks or so?

I am sure they were and rightly so - but not if we were only left with Soldado as back up. I also believe that Soldado was being offered to clubs around Europe judging by some clubs distancing themselves from any speculation. Neither have been good enough although I agree that Ade at 9

Maybe I am wrong but by March (barring injury or any major incident) I believe Ade will be firmly be our number 2 striker. We can revisit the convo to see who is right. The fact he will be (IMO) says everything about Soldado's performances.

LCLC - were you one of those posters who didn't want Soldado given a chance earlier in the season, when Adebayor was on his run of 1 goal in 10, based on his performances last season? Looking back through your post history suggests so. I think you haven't gotten over last season and hold it against him when evaluating his performances this season - every negative enhanced and every positive overlooked, kind of the opposite of how you seem to be evaluating Adebayors performances this season...

Maybe at times I do overlook some good things he does - IMO that is because too many people wildly overstate any touch, flick or step he makes to cling on to something. I didn't think that Soldado would be our saviour earlier in the season due to some pretty basic flaws in his game but in fairness i did say that he looked better with Kane at 10 to provide some of the qualities that he lacks ..... However I also am sick to death of the vitriol and complete BS that Ade gets from our fans based upon his history and past. The booing when he enters the field etc all make me sad and these stories are constructed to get other people to hate him. The funniest one i saw is how he cost us much more than Soldado (not true in any economy or mathematical theory) whilst also forgetting the fundamental fact that one has delivered for periods whilst the other hasn't - rendering any comparison defunct in the first place.

Ade might not fit Poch's system, but Soldado doesn't fit the system or the league.

As some posters have stated a few pages ago - too many people try and use what they see on the pitch and random bits of body language to create these big opinions and theories that are way too much

I don't think Soldado will be our savior either and i agree a lot of the stick that gets directed at Adebayor is OTT. im not sure if this is the same thread which has been running since he signed his permanent deal but if it is you would see me and a couple of other posters heartily defending him throughout his first season and in to his second - but after 2.5 seasons of 'permanent Ade' I no longer have the desire to defend the guy, there's just too much drama that revolves around him for it all to be coincidence and after all this time he's only really looked anything like the player we thought we were getting for a short period under Sherwood - the rest has been a bitter disappointment.

it's commendable you want to talk up a player you feel is getting mistreated, but i don't think being OTT with your criticism of his alternative is the best way to go about things, especially when it's clear that Adebayor has by far and away been our worst performing forward this season, let's not kid ourselves...

The fact is I cant stand Adeybeyor, and I dont care whether he scores a hat trick in his next game or not. The sooner he is out of our club the better and we can put his wages to someone who deserves it. As for Soldado I have nothing against him but he just cannot cut it in the Prem, and I have seen no sign of him getting any better. He was brought in to score goals and unfortunately he has turned out to be one of the worst strikers I have ever seen at the Lane. Not the worst but one of them. Cant wait for the next season when we can get these two out of the club, if we can find any takers that is. Like I said I would rather see a youngster on the bench than either of them.
As for previous posters comments about me calling Levy out about transfer fees and wages, the point I was trying to make is that because the Prem pays the highest wages in europe bar a few clubs in europe, players seem happy to sit on the bench and rake their inflated wages in. I am sure there are plenty of clubs who would have Ade or Soldado but cant afford the Transfer fee and/or wages. This is not just Spurs I am talking about but near enough every club in the prem. Every club must have at least a couple of players on big money who are not even going to get on the bench all season. When was the last time Assou Ekotto played for us and how much has he drawn in wages? Its why we love Harry Kane so much and cant stand Adebeyor. I wouldn't boo him if he plays again for us but the sooner the lazy african mercenary is gone the better. If he goes on to score goals for the rest of the season I am sure certain posters will be delighted but nothing he does or says will ever make me warm to him. No stats or anything will make me change my mind about him.

Why do you keep referring to him as "african mercenary"

Cos thats what I see him as a lazy african mercenary that would be gone as quick as lightning if he could sqeeze more money somewhere else. Like a lot of supporters whether it is real or percieved he only seems to perform when he has a point to prove or is in the"shop window" The fact is I dont care if he goes on a wild scoring spree from now until the end of the season I cant wait to see the back of him from my club. Cant stand his excuses and attitude and nothing anyone says or he does will change my mind

Agreed. Ade and Soldado have both been turbo brick as KingDawson used to say. But Soldado works a bit harder. Both aren't good enough and need shifting in the summer.

I really hope Ade is nowhere near the starting 11 on Sunday, I don't trust him to behave himself.

Hear hear, thats all we need him running around like a maniac and getting red carded. Soldado on the bench for this one

You could just leave it as "lazy mercenary"...
