Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Completely correct, you have to back yourself in any walk of life.

People cant have it both ways, we want fighters who want to fight, but not stay and fight for their place! Obviously Ade was told he could go and would have gone, but WE didnt want him to go to West Ham quite rightly.

We didnt want fighters like Dawson, We dont want players like Adebayor, We dont want players like Lennon, Who exactly do we want. Even Bentaleb was getting dogs abuse on this forum for being Sherwoods Love child... Its ridiculous if it didnt impact others.

But its been that way since year dot.. people will always prefer there favourite to play and will write derogatory things about others who stand in there way. I don't understand the abuse for Bentaleb myself because IMO he hasn't done anything that warrants any abuse. On a personal level, I only have any ill feelings towards Adebayor, but with recent actions about mutiny etc involving other players then they too are on my list because ultimately no one is bigger than the team, yet some think they are.

There is preferring a player over another but there is also bad taste in terms of criticism, some of it is borderline on here.

I personally look at Soldado for example and don't look at every miss with hate, I want nothing more than him to score goals and I have his back in terms of faith, as blind as that might be. But I feel as a supporter of the club who I defend, I defend their purchases and feel conformity and positivity is more productive than slaughtering people that might be going through a lean period. The same for Chadli and you look at him now after he was stood by and he is stating to flourish...conversely people talk about consistency as a stick to beat Adebayor with yet we back Erikesen who as a human being also has lulls in effectiveness, but rightly so we back him.

I just find the way some players are judged is hypocritical to how we treat others...

I can't believe people on here honestly believe they have enough information about a player to form a personal opinion of him. There is so much brick that goes on behind closed doors that we will never ever know about - the true character defining moments we just aren't privy to.

I manage a team of 10 people - people I work closely with day in day out for the last 8 years. Even then I can't possibly claim to know without a shadow of a doubt what each individual's motives, drivers, agendas and explanations for every choice and action they make in their lives. How on earth then can you form opinions on players you watch for 90mins a week? Forum speculation? Skysports fairy tales? That stuff is nonsense.

If a player is out of form - he's out of form. If he's not up to standard - he's not up to standard. We paint these guys like their bad people because of it. some of these posts sound like people genuinely feel hatred for some players. It's really sad.

How many times do they have to go awol for you to sack them?
What happens when they have stand up rows with their manager.

Most peoples issues with footballers is they get away with brick in their job that no one else would in real life.

He went home with the blessing of the club.

Rows happen with bosses all the time, so of the best working environments I have been in have involved the odd row.

Do you never think that clubs have a responsibility to any of that? Clubs use and abuse players and managers to their own gain, hugely. So who is to blame for a footballer being on 100k a week and willing to sit it out? The club takes no responsibility on giving out long term lucrative contracts when the players play under a manager in which they are in favour??

A fair and fine point...one thing that is not mentioned is the agent's role. In this case, I suspect it has been sizable. I've always said with regards to Adebayor that it is very hard for any of us to fathom what it must be like to be 'the man' in Togolese football, let alone being a major star there, and the hangers-on/family drain must be immense. I suspect since the bus shooting he has never quite been the same person (unsurprisingly) and he is absolutely a player who appears to need the love and 'big-up' of his manager. His style of play is not Poch's. He will never press like Poch wants for 95 minutes. But both are professionals and both will make the final few months work IMO. I still maintain it would've been best for all parties if there had been a parting of the ways, and I have to say, I find the deadline day stuff really tinkle-poor. I cannot fathom why we would kitten him around only to withdraw from a bid which the player wanted to take. Well, I CAN as it is MY belief that Levy enjoyed a bit of 'fudge you' to a few parties involved there, but the fact remains that the whole thing has helped absolutely no-one. My biggest worry now is that his presence could prove disruptive; we are very reliant on Ade at this point NOT throwing toys out of pram. The best thing for all would be if he spends these final few months rediscovering his form and hunger to help push us on all fronts.

Emmanuel Adebayor has told #SSNHQ that he was pleased that the club offered him out on loan. The striker confirmed five clubs were interested in him and he chose West Ham, but Tottenham said no because of their rivalry.

fudge him.

come on mate, lets break it down to what we seemingly know

- We were willing to loan him out under the condition that the club he goes to subsidize his wages in some part
- we got 3 offers with varying levels of subsidy of wages
- He picked a club we don't have good relationships with and we decided we needed them to pick up more of the tab, they didn't want to and somehow want to play that as us being difficult to do business with, which is complete flimflam.
- If either Ade or West Ham really wanted the move, either of them could have made a concession, they didn't.

The truth is that DL is absolutely uninterested in doing anything he perceives as helpful for Ade. He has steadfastly said (privately) he would rather let the player sit in the reserves than give him what he and his agent apparently want. Make no mistake, this was a power play and all about control/who's wearing the pants in the relationship. It's a weakness of DL's IMO, and one I hope will come to an end. He has made a great appointment in Pochettino because Poch is absolutely iron-tough and will not take any flimflam from anywhere; talk about a manager who will walk if unhappy long-term, well, here he is! So everyone is (thankfully) onside with him. As for the West Ham, be serious, why even take their phone call? Why even let it be known we would consider it? Why leave it so late to haggle over money? Nah. This was an opportunity to say 'fudge you' IMO mate. I suppose I cannot fathom why we would indulge in such small-time behavior. It can have done nothing for the player (which we are now stuck with). Put it this way - no publicity at all has been given to the Turkish clubs which also looked at him and wouldn't subsidize the wages to DL's pleasure i.e. pay them all. Bottom line is, we got a player from Emirates Marketing Project on such terms for some time, we had to know it might come to this. Better to cut losses IMO.

I really don't get why West Ham would have wanted Ade given who they already have (for example, is Ade currently much better than Carlton Cole?)

That last minute bid and rejection seems like BS on so many fronts the more i think about it

Cole was going to West Brom (was all over the news), their Zarate loan couldn't happen, and yes, I'd rather have Ade than Carlton Cole. I have been lead to believe we contacted several clubs about his availability, and both QPR and West Ham were in the communication loop. Of course, it's all academic because he is our man still and as such, move forth we must and give him our full support we will!!!!!

But what if the other clubs were in places he didn't want to live? West Ham is a London club - the city where he's spent the majority of his career. I'm sure his family is very settled and a move to Turkey or somewhere else wasn't an option for him.

So are QPR, so are Palace...the Qatari thing? I get that. And the Turkish clubs (Besiktas were who I heard) wanted him but were never going to get remotely close to subsidizing him the way DL wanted... look, whatever, I just don't think anyone ends up looking good out of this situation. The reality is we gave him the contract and now we have to I've by it. My true frustration is with DL. Should've let him go IMO. West Ham a rival/ They might well have taken points off others around us, which would've helped us!

I think he has a role to play. If he gets us a goal or two to help us into the top 4, it will be worth it. No one knows whats around the corner - that is the point - we may need him we may not. But its better to have an option than not.

I cannot see him getting enough games to find his form but will be happy to be proved wrong

Hopefully not. We're better off with an on form Kane. But you don't know what will happen. Ade could come on as a sub and save a game, Kane injured or tired etc etc. We have options and despite being many things, he can play at a high level.
