Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

As someone alluded to earlier, if Kane gets injured we have a choice of someone who works their socks off but doesn't score or someone who it is perceived doesn't put the effort in but knows where the goal is...

We'd all love Bobby to start banging them in but I know who I'd rather count on for goals if Kane was unavailable....

(....and that man is Christian Eriksen!)

The problem we face is if Ade plays and gets booed then it's a no win situation for all concerned and unfortunately it's a far too predictable outcome. :(

Woah WOAH WOOOAAAH

Soldado does not work his socks off in any shape or fashion. I wouldn't call him lazy but lets not describe someone who doesn't challenge defenders, press, close down, work channels as a hard worker. Last season against Southampton at home he worked really hard and his performance as very strong - unfortunately he doesn't put in enough.

Ade is definitely not a workhorse either but this preconception that he is lazy needs to stop. I don't want him at our club but if Kane gets injured he is the better option for sure.

Tbf to Ade I think he can be overly labelled as lazy at time; but THIS SEASON alone, can you name the games in which he did put in a good shift for the team in terms of effort?
I personally think he is physically spent and his age has now caught up with him. He literally cannot out in the effort he used to be able to (when in the mood). Also in terms working well with and for the team i still think that THIS SEASON he has been behind Soldado in that regard (poor misses are excluded here btw). I'm also sure Ade has played more games as well.

Agree with the bit about Ade - he spends a huge amount of time chasing down his first touch in a way Soldado never does for some reason.

Revealed: Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor turned down £1m-a-month 'double your money' move

Emmanuel Adebayor rejected the chance to earn about £1million a month in Qatar as he and his family are keen to remain in London.

The Tottenham forward, 30, has been criticised by supporters who believe he is staying at the club simply to continue earning a gross salary of £100,000 a week for the remaining term of his contract, which expires in summer 2016.

But Standard Sport understands Adebayor received offers from Qatari clubs that would have made him considerably wealthier.

The former Ar5ena1 player is thought to have turned down one deal that would have earned him £130,000 a week after tax.

That equates to a gross weekly salary of about £245,000 — more than double what Adebayor is currently on at Tottenham.

Adebayor stayed at White Hart Lane during the transfer window despite a late offer from West Ham. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was unwilling to help a rival for a top-four finish by subsidising the player’s salary.

Unless there is an injury to Harry Kane, it is hard to see Adebayor, who has scored just two goals in 15 games for Spurs this season, being granted significant playing time in key matches over the rest of the campaign.

There is still time to accept it. When he realises he is 4th on the list he may do us all a favour. But he is too comfortable here

I watched the away game against Sheff Utd again yesterday and at the end the camera was on Eriksen, having felt for a while he don't like Ade from body language and interviews after the games the cameras show Ade celebrating John Terry style and he jumps on Eriksen and gives him a choke hold. Eriksen is like get the fcuk of me you clam. lol his face is a picture.

Amazing so he goes from Just after the money to too comfortable
Doesn't care to over-jealous celebrations

I want him out, but to be honest its as much to bring a stop the negativity as much as anything else. Question is when he goes who will everyone then turn on?

That's one of the major problems.

Its almost ingrained into the mind set here that there must be someone to dislike, so there will be another pantomime villain.

I just don't see enough wrong with him to be as negative as people are. Yeh ok he is inconsistent but which player isn't? Yes he earns a lot of money but that's football....

Indeed, but you know the boo boys will soon find another whipping boy, its what they do.

lol I will not be happy until he is gone, and for your comment about who to turn on next.. I think everyone will turn on Kaboul.. which is deserved, in the fact that he is probably not wanted yet willing to sit it out BAE style until his contract is up. That's his prerogative though.. sitting taking the money instead of playing elsewhere. I want fighters at this club, not people who walk through games thinking there name is enough. Careers in football are so short, I cannot understand or back any footballer that is wishing to just sit and take there wage when they could be playing elsewhere. Lennon did the right thing, and would welcome him back with open arms in the summer.

Do you never think that clubs have a responsibility to any of that? Clubs use and abuse players and managers to their own gain, hugely. So who is to blame for a footballer being on 100k a week and willing to sit it out? The club takes no responsibility on giving out long term lucrative contracts when the players play under a manager in which they are in favour??

Maybe if some footballers did't put themselves in a position to be hated there wouldn't be any.

I think we as fans attack players on pretty flimsy theories, like I said earlier "his shoulders were too low and he looked disinterested" "he came off and didn't look happy" "he earns too much money and therefore he is evil" "he is crap on social media"

Fans also have loose morals whilst expecting players to have tons, in terms of loose morals I expect most fans on here having a pop at Adebayor would accept Suarez?? Even though he has literally disgraced himself and the game more than any modern day footballer I know? So what's the line there? Forgive Suarez for all he has FACTUALLY done wrong because he is class and berate Adebayor with third rate excuses made up on press assumptions and ignore the fact he and BAE are massive charitable campaigners away from the game, just to add weight to having a pop.

I think its the fans that have the issue here, not the players...

The money is secondary.. playing professional football of a weekend should be the main focus of every professional player out there. BTW last I read Adebayor would have been on the same money as he is now had he gone to QPR for the remainder of the season but turned down playing.

That's his choice though. I am not a footballer but I would rather stay at Spurs and work at getting in the team, which he has appeared recently, rather than join a club like QPR who are in a mess.

I know the argument will be "well if he wasn't a waste he would go and play football" but people don't say that about Ricky Lambert....its a myth, an argument created to have a pop at people for the sake of it....

The issue is that Harry Kane has come along and made Adebayor look like the lazy over paid mercenary we have had to put up with the past 10 years in the Premier League in general. There has been no other player where it is plain to see that when the situation suits him that suddenly he has the attitude of Harry Kane. Yes, the issue is the fans can see it with there own eyes and is so black and white and quite simply have had enough of these players. Ballotelli is another.

That choice though is not cool, and I certainly would not want to be somewhere when they have basically shown me the door.

Completely correct, you have to back yourself in any walk of life.

People cant have it both ways, we want fighters who want to fight, but not stay and fight for their place! Obviously Ade was told he could go and would have gone, but WE didnt want him to go to West Ham quite rightly.

We didnt want fighters like Dawson, We dont want players like Adebayor, We dont want players like Lennon, Who exactly do we want. Even Bentaleb was getting dogs abuse on this forum for being Sherwoods Love child... Its ridiculous if it didnt impact others.

Anyway, whats done is done the window is closed and bar a miracle where he suddenly decides to move to the middle east, we will just have to lump it and hope he goes in the summer.

Hopefully Poch decides that there are better alternatives to play the striker role with a rotation of Kane, Soldado, Chadli, Lamela and some U-19 stirkers.

Personally I think Ade is more than happy to sit it out and do a BAE.
