Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

I want him gone, because I don't trust him .

I don't trust him to do the right thing if selected and play to his best. I don't think he wants to play for us anymore, not for fans who sing supportive songs for Kane and Soldado and only have boos for him .

If called upon, I wouldn't put it past him to exact some form of revenge, especially in a crucial game, at a crucial moment. He will miss a sitter, a penalty , get himself sent off and leave his team mates in the lurch.

Sorry , but I just don't share the optimism some of you have about keeping him for the remainder of the season. I think he's going to be next to useless or even worse from here on in. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Telegraph suggesting we would've loaned to Spam as long as they picked up his full wage, so maybe not game-playing. I'm torn because I think keeping him is bad for the dressing room, and his recent performances look like he's doing an impression of someone making an effort, but loaning to Spam and then they finish above us is potentially an epic fudge up.

This comment would be telling if it weren't from that idiot Gold:
"people out their that you just can't do business with".

Indeed, but everyone knew that wasn't going to happen days ago. Levy would rather let him rot than give him what he wants. And then West ham pop up thinking they can chisel a deal out of him? Oh the joy for DL, delightful, he got the chance to shaft two for one. Of course, Ade will be thinking that even being shafted as he was it is 100k a week's worth of shafting, but there is more than that for any human being, and I actually think this whole thing is perfection. Either let him go or make it very clear you won't. Don't kitten him around and then pull out. IMO.

Can we release him then get him on loan again? That's the only way we can guarantee he will start performing again.

Having said that, we may very well need him if Kane gets injured.

As someone alluded to earlier, if Kane gets injured we have a choice of someone who works their socks off but doesn't score or someone who it is perceived doesn't put the effort in but knows where the goal is...

We'd all love Bobby to start banging them in but I know who I'd rather count on for goals if Kane was unavailable....

(....and that man is Christian Eriksen!)

The problem we face is if Ade plays and gets booed then it's a no win situation for all concerned and unfortunately it's a far too predictable outcome. :(

Perhaps some of this residual animosity towards Ade comes from the opinion (conscious or otherwise) among some of the fans that his enormous wages, if lifted off the bill, would allow for someone more reliable to brought in on a similarly high wage packet?

That isn't going to happen given the evolution of our club strategy, but it could be a reason why so many fans want him out. Well, that and the exemplary effect he had on team harmony under AVB, of course.

Maybe, but the fact he used to play for the Arse has meant they are some who were against him ( and still are) from the very beginning.

It's because he doesn't put the effort in, not enough anyway. He knows where the goal is sometimes, he only has 2 league goals this season.

They are so few it barely registers. Don't get why this is trotted out all the time. The crap Ade has gotten for the last two and half seasons has absolutely nothing to do with him playing for Arsenal in the past.

Well I hear at the games and in the pubs after every game, "that taco needs to fudge off back to Arse", as I said its the problem for some fans, Gallas got the same brick and its usually the same macarons who bitch if we have any read on our kit.

On the £100k he is on now or the £170k he was on last season?
We could get 4 backups for £25k each (Kane was recently on £20k) but I think he's earning significantly more than that. In fact, I read this morning on a link from this site (still trying to find it) that one of the club's after him had offered £100k with us paying the rest.

Yeah this season's stats don't lie. But they can tell different stories. The team performances and results were poor for most of those games (barring QPR - where one of the goals came) - some would argue that was a direct result of Adebayor playing whereas others might say that his performances were no better or worse than those around him and his form was simply indicative of the team as a whole.

Better men than me have tried to find a solution to the Adebayor problem but it would appear that the biggest problem is that you can't find an answer when you aren't really sure what the question is! He appears to be an enigma who'll probably be remembered for being immensely talented when he wants to be, although nobody can really be 100% sure that that's the case! Only one man knows for sure.

That's because Gallas was an experienced leader of men, a proven winner and not a lazy, universally divisive, mercenary prick.

When not doing a sit down protest.

If a man like Tim Sherwood can get the best out of him then it can't be rocket science. Football is littered with people that need something extra to get them going, anyone that denies that fact lives in dreamland.

Revealed: Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor turned down £1m-a-month 'double your money' move

Emmanuel Adebayor rejected the chance to earn about £1million a month in Qatar as he and his family are keen to remain in London.

The Tottenham forward, 30, has been criticised by supporters who believe he is staying at the club simply to continue earning a gross salary of £100,000 a week for the remaining term of his contract, which expires in summer 2016.

But Standard Sport understands Adebayor received offers from Qatari clubs that would have made him considerably wealthier.

The former Arsenal player is thought to have turned down one deal that would have earned him £130,000 a week after tax.

That equates to a gross weekly salary of about £245,000 — more than double what Adebayor is currently on at Tottenham.

Adebayor stayed at White Hart Lane during the transfer window despite a late offer from West Ham. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was unwilling to help a rival for a top-four finish by subsidising the player’s salary.

Unless there is an injury to Harry Kane, it is hard to see Adebayor, who has scored just two goals in 15 games for Spurs this season, being granted significant playing time in key matches over the rest of the campaign.
