Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

with the whole world knowing that we wanted to unload him, what do you think is going through ade's fragile mind now?
is his career for us already over?

That's always possible; on the oter hand Levy vetoed a move to Wet Spam as he valued him enough not to

a) let him go to a close rival PL Table position-wise
b) not to want to pay a bulk of his wages for said rival

...straws and all that...

More Machiavellian tricks from Levy? ... I wouldn't put it past Levy to deliberately stuff Wham's plans on the last day completely so that they ended up with nothing. Not sure Levy ever wanted to sell him at all.
I can't believe Levy made it clear that Ade was available, on the off chance Spam came sniffing and he could fudge them up.
My guess is either; Levy was willing to pay half his wages to a team that wasn't a threat, or none of it if he went to a team that was a threat (and Gold's crying 'cos it's not fair); or Levy told Ade and his agent to find a club and we'd pay half, they spoke to Spam without us knowing and arranged a deal, and then when they told Levy he said fudge off I'm not dealing with them.

Anyway.. hopefully Adebayor is now 4th choice and it won't matter. Not in the squad the next 3 weeks might provoke a move to Russia.

A little gutted Doumbia went to Roma really, the type of move striker I think would have fitted in with the scheme. Could/Should have used Ade as bait.

Completely this.
Levy blocked the move he wanted to West Ham. He will be less arsed than usual.

The idea that he will go to Russia or the middle east after he rejected a loan to QPR is ridiculous.

If Tim had been installed as Harry's replacement a week ago Ade would likely have gone there you would think, and probably done well for them too. Harry's timing is impeccable, eh?

He is supposed to have said he didn't wanna be fighting relegation.
I don't think he is any closer to Sherwood than Redknapp.

He is a mercenary.. he will go where the money is the most.

He was gonna get the same as he was at Palace or QPR as he would have at West Ham yet he refused.
The money in his next move is dependent on his reputation. He doesn't want to be seen as not a top striker anymore.
I dont think Russian clubs have money after the crash there btw.

Yeh and we paid it, so its hardly all one way traffic as its made out to be. Clubs use players just as much as the other way round, and GHod hasn't Spurs.

I don't enjoy this holier than thou act amongst our fans, every club has opened the gate for the horse to bolt and we then jump on half arsed theories to slate the players.

What I know about Adebayor is yeh, he earns good money, but clubs are willing to pay it. He has played for three of the countries top clubs and had a stint at one of the if not the biggest clubs in the world, so part of you has to think, either clubs are mega stupid or he has something about him to get to those clubs. Add to that, as I have said previously, he has two superb seasons out of three for us so he went some way to earning what WE chose the pay him.

^ a great season under Redknapp and a good half season under Sherwood - not quite two superb seasons out of three, 50/50 over 3 seasons would be more accurate, imv.

Factor in this half season, since earning a permanent contract, he's only had one good half season spell in 2.5 seasons - what's that? 20%?

Half a season based on getting picked half way through and absolutely hit the ground running. Even better for that I think.

Perhaps some of this residual animosity towards Ade comes from the opinion (conscious or otherwise) among some of the fans that his enormous wages, if lifted off the bill, would allow for someone more reliable to brought in on a similarly high wage packet?

That isn't going to happen given the evolution of our club strategy, but it could be a reason why so many fans want him out. Well, that and the exemplary effect he had on team harmony under AVB, of course.

Not for me - I think we could get at least two decent players for his salary. We can probably pay for backups for our entire front four.

They pay massive wages in the Middle East and expect comparatively little in return. If there was ever a part of the world made for Ade....
