Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Didn't think so. Certainly not a great finish (obviously), but he placed it well enough that it took a pretty special save from the goalie to stop it. Gusan couldn't just stick his leg out to save it or get hit by the shot as you often see in those situations. He had to actually get across and down with his hand to get to it. Should have put more power behind it of course, but it wasn't a bad finish imo.

Between knee and elbow is the shot to go for if not curl it round the keeper. If he was going to put it where the keeper can reach it with his hands, he ought to have put more pace to beat the keeper on speed.

It was a great run, perfectly timed, showed for the ball, got in behind the defense and beat the trap, under pressure shot low and across the keeper heading far corner...and was a great save.

If Soldo had made that run (yeah, right) he would have been praised for it and people feeling sorry that he was denied.

If Ade scores there, you get the feeling it would have been quite painful for some.

He would have been slated for missing another sitter.

Give over! Your acting like soldado gets a free ride on here?!? Have you not seen the soldado thread, he's slated no matter how he plays!

How about we just focus on what Ade does or Soldado does rather than bleet on about what would have happened if one was in the others shoes - it serves no purpose other than to create a divide and cause petty arguments.

Ade does gets caught offside a lot

Is there any baggage in particular we'll be moving him on to?

Much Baggage, he already told you. He'll be good value in their derby with Much Wenlock, but only in contract year.

On topic, Poch seems to like him though, continually returns to him anyway.

The thing is that Poch, like us, knows very well just how good an in form and motivated Adebayor is. I can understand that he's willing to try hard to get that Adebayor on the pitch. I don't think it's about liking him, more knowing the potential that he holds.

Poch knew what? he starts him nearly every game.

Poch knows that Adebayor is a difficult player to manage , that he's 'the superstar' ( in Ade's mind ) that constantly needs an arm around . That Adebayor is a voice amongst the players.

I do think that Poch is merely playing it canny, by making Adebayor vice captain. It's akin to keeping your enemies close , so to speak.

In the interest of squad harmony, I think Poch has done the correct thing in giving the first premeirship games to Adebayor rather than to Soldado. Reverse it if you can , that Soldado is first choice and Adebayor has spent most of the PL games on the bench, then try to imagine the fallout that brings with it and to a manager that's just taken the job on .

Voted in by the players apparently, which kind of puts to bed the 'negative influence in the dressing room' story championed by some on here.

He's still playing sh*t though.

source ? the article i read mentioned that poch consulted with the players but it did not specifically confirm that it was a vote.

I'd have thought an incoming manager if he's any good, will quickly recognise a player's "influence" power in the dressing room, be it a positive or negative.

A positive can become a negative.

Make him play in (or at least travel to) the away Europas. At least he'll learn that coming back on time is always possible - the he can apply it instead of staying off-side
