At home in Togo today

Slumming it, again.

Re: Official - Adebayor

It also implies that we're paying him 170k a week...
So either sell or cut his wages in half seems reasonable.

It says that we pay him something between £80-90k and that City have made up the rest to £170k but that this deal ends this summer and he just gets the basic £80-90k from now on.

and also that he is settled in London and doesnt want to leave

Re: Official - Adebayor

It will be VERY interesting to see whether MoPo thinks Ade is an integral part of his plans or a waste of space.

It will also be interesting to see if Ade can behave as a useful SQUAD member that is not necessarily going to play game in game out

Wouldnt bet my house on it.

Re: Official - Adebayor

It looks like Ade needs to be feeling loved. Harry did it, AVB surely didnt - Timmeh understood that Ade maybe could save his job, and clearly said to him that he would be the first on the team sheet every game when fit. Poch? I guess he wont take any prisoners, Ade needs to adapt to the system. It probably means a lot of running, also without the ball - every game. I dont see that he will personally, but would gladly be proven wrong.

Tbf, Ade did this in AVB's first seaon, particularly the second half.

It was his finishing that was sh!te in that time

I hope he doesn't in fact play game in game out this season. He became needed in that role last year because of Soldo's issues. But we will have a lot of games this year and its a long season, and at this stage of his career I think he would be better utilized by playing one game a week. (Part of the reason he was effective last season was that he was fresh and only played half a season.) Of course, that depends on his being willing to, and whether Poch wants him in the first place.

My bad, just skimmed the article after I read one based on that.

'Reports have claimed that as a condition of his transfer, City would subsidize a chunk of Adebayor's wages until the date his City contract was to expire, and then we were on the hook for the whole of his weekly wages. Nobody's talking really about how much Ade makes, but it's said to be around £170k/week..'

Re: Official - Adebayor

IMO a new manager always likes his own man as his striker. IMO he sells and brings in someone.

Re: Official - Adebayor

Anyone thinks that Ade is going to have a problem training hard for Poch? There are articles that say that Poch emphasizes physical fitness for the high pressing game.

Nope. He'd need to turn up to have a problem training.

according to wiki "On 18 July 2009, Adebayor signed a five-year contract with Emirates Marketing Project" so that means his contract with City was to expire by July 2014. However its not clear how the financing of the deal was done e.g. it could have been used to reduce the transfer price. I don't think you can have a situation where two clubs are funding a player.

Re: Official - Adebayor

I thought the story was he was taking a wage cut when he joined us but we gave a 5mill signing on fee?

Re: Official - Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor is recovering in hospital after contracting a mild bout of malaria.

The Togo international was admitted to hospital on Saturday after reporting feeling unwell to our medical staff. A swift diagnosis meant the disease was detected at an early stage and he is responding well to treatment. The striker is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow and will then require a minimum of seven days before returning to training.

The player has been advised not to travel on medical grounds, which means he will be forced to miss our pre-season tour of North America.

Re: Official - Adebayor

**** sake. Hope he's ok and all that but would love him to be sold before the season starts. Not likely though.
