Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Re: Official - Adebayor

according to a journo on the spurs show, city's contribution to his wages end this season and it's to be renegotiated how much we pay him for next, is this just "contract ade" again?

My understanding was the City arrangement ran for the remainder of his contract with them. My assumption is that his wages will fall to the level that we contribute after that. I really doubt that Levy would agree to a deal with a player where there was a renegotiation of their wages half way through the contract.

Re: Official - Adebayor

So he is trying to catch the eye of Monaco then?

I said in the Saudi Sportswashing Machine OMT that I have never really bought the playing for a contract argument with Ade. He would have to be a phenomenal footballer to be able to turn it on and off like that. I suspect that he is just a bit sensitive and can only perform when he is happy.

That's my understanding too. That doesn't mean he won't insist on more money this summer though or look elsewhere for it.

I don't think he turns it on and off, I just don't think he can be bothered. When he's due a pay bump, he's motivated.

I think that he is good enough to be in our upper quartile of earners but not the highest earner and certainly not what he is used to being paid.

It may surprise you to hear I actually think he could be our best earner by right. When on form he's our best player.

I'd put him on £30k per week with £50k per goal and £30k per assist. Bet he gets a hatrick every week.

If you're right, then we should pay him that!!!!!

That's the play to make. I'm sure Levy would do that in a heartbeat!

Re: Official - Adebayor

I just think he's a top striker. Think he's reached a point in his career where he's settled.

Has he said he wants to see his career out with us?

Re: Official - Adebayor

He's a brilliant player, it just remains a question of can he stay motivated for any extended period of time?

Perhaps he's old enough, perhaps he has gone through enough in the last year or two, perhaps the period in exile, or some combination of all will make him realize he's not going to play forever, he's running out of clubs that will take a chance on him at his wages, and he should try and finish his career with what he's capable of, not what he's arsed to do on a particular day.

Personally, if he can stay motivated to the end of the season, and continue his MK1 Ade form, good enough for me, for now.

I don't think he'd really want to go back to you lot, would he? Acrimonious departure and all...

Re: Official - Adebayor

Anyone know where Ade is tonight?

Rested along with Hugo, Walker, Kaboul, Dembele, Lennon etc?

We've depended very heavily on some of those players, including Ade, makes sense to not fly them half way to China and back again to play on a pitch in a worse state than the Greek economy.

Re: Official - Adebayor

Our players always seem happy to play with Ade. Never seen even signs of friction there personally, on the pitch at least (where it counts).

He's been a leader for his international side in difficult circumstances, I think his fellow professionals look up to that.

Not sure how fans can "find a player out" anyway, as long as opponents struggle to deal with him as much as they currently do how much does "found out by fans" change anything.
