Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Re: Official - Adebayor

I'm sure someone's already said it, but if not, I'd imagine Dembele shooting is more to do with him needing to add goals to his game than thinking Adebayor might've been offside.

Re: Official - Adebayor

Chap in the grey gloves is doing a good impression of me at the time. The Moose has to score there.

Saying that, I don't much like Ade's shrieking, he wouldn't have passed it, whatever he said in his interview.

I agree - I know Ade is a striker and I wouldnt have blamed him for taking the shot on. I wouldnt have blamed ANYONE for taking it on especially someone like Dembele who we always talk about should be scoring more goals and creating more opportunities.

No... Apparently he was just playing in an impromptu game near his home. Not international or anything.

Just playing along his friends as he used to do everytime he is around in Lome !

Re: Official - Adebayor

Moussa should've scored or squared it. We need to see more goals from the man and I think eh was right to take on the shot. Ade should'nt have gone made at him, but then again if we hadn't got the third before Bony got one back then the last 10 minutes could've been a different story

Re: Official - Adebayor

I find it odd people are saying Ade is wrong to shout at Moussa for not squaring the ball? It is simple if you don't square it there you must score, if not prepare to hear it from your teammate. As for was Ade wrong to shout at him? Please EVERY match in EVERY league this happens usually on more than one occasion during a match even playing on schoolyard as kids this happens. Don't know why some people are making a big deal of it?

Players With Best Chance Conversion Rates This Season:

Adebayor 45%
Yaya Toure 38%
Hazard 33%
Gouffran 32%
Welbeck 31%"

Re: Official - Adebayor

I was intially seriously ****ed at Dembele for missing that but looking back, is Ade not at risk of being offside and ruining the chance with where he can receive the ball?

Maybe there's an argument to say Dembele could have played it across straight away, but it's difficult. He gets put through, has players baring down on him, he's under pressure and Ade may well be offside.

I may be wrong but I'm a lot more understanding of Dembele after a couple of days to calm down. I can understand why in a pressure situation it wasn't as easy as it looked.

I watched it milisecond to milisecond and my thoughts were that Ade was too far forward. That may have been the angle of the camera but I honestly think Ade should have dropped a yard. Moooooouuussssa!!! is not a greedy player so I imagine he wasn't sure either

Re: Official - Adebayor

Mousa should shoot all day. He missed. We won regardless. Lesson? Mousa needs to finish better next time

Re: Official - Adebayor

In a situation where you can either finish yourself and you need a good finish to score by for example placing it in the corner, or you have a dead easy pass to a teammate that will then have the entire goal gaping the decision is pretty easy. The right thing to do is to pass it...

That's not fair that is just a brilliant example lol.

No I'm glad he had a shot because it's one thing he's accused of not doing enough. Ultimately he should finish it,it wasn't a difficult finish really. I see your point, yes whatever results in a sure fire goal should be the opinion that should be taken. But I'm not mad at Dembele for shooting. I'm ****ed at him for missing.

No wonder he's not shooting more when you're ****ed at him for missing ;) Maybe if you hadn't showed up at his place and shat in his petunias every time he missed a shot we would have a 15+ goals per season midfielder on our hands!

Edit: And I agree, the Guti example isn't fair. One of my favourite classic football clips really. The awareness, the calmness, it's a meditative experience to watch that clip.

I dont mind players shouting etc - heat of the moment. Dont care if two players argue etc (of course no punching) but debating etc is fine. What me myself im querying is more that dembele should have passed - I dont think he should have passed and was quite right to take it on.

I don't have a problem with him taking the shot either, it was an easy chance he should have taken. However, when you miss that and a square pass is on he should expect to get some stick

Im sure he took it too. I think Demele knew. Its a classic situation of hindsight.

A: Estimated chance of scoring by taking the shot.
B: Estimated chance of scoring if the pass is made instead.

If B is greater than A then passing is the right play.

Edit: Nothing to do with hindsight.

B is not greater than A or not significantly so that a player bearing down on goal could make a judgement on in a split second. I think if Dembele scored, we wouldnt have people talking about how he should have passed, even if B was greater than A - so there is definitely hindsight involved. We are only debating this because he didnt score.

There are so so so many goals scored where B exceeds A yet no one would bring it up.

Given that my criticism of Dembele is that he doesn't shoot enough, I wasn't that bothered that he was selfish. Unfortunately, though, missing (and the ensuing stick he no doubt got) probably won't do much to encourage him to shoot in the future.

mine is on why he doesn't go dribbling into the box to tempt a foul and a penalty.

But it highlights Dembele's main problem, his decision making is ****.

Honestly the guy is a great athlete, shields the ball almost as well as anyone in the game, but ****, so often makes a bad decision (either runs into a wall, shoots when pass on, pass when shot on, etc.), he would be a extremely good player if he had any decision ability.

The big problem I have with the decision is the timing in that game, it was one of those 10 minute spells in the game where if we scored, the game was done, if they scored it was going to be a rough ride, knowing that and knowing the Ade pass was pretty much = goal done, he went the greedy route and failed to put it on target, he deserves stick.
