Eberechi Eze

Think suarez might confuse things. His liverpool contract seemed to say if someone bid £40m he was allowed to talk to them. Rather than what he and his agent thinking it meant he could leave.

Pretty sure no agent since would have made the same mistake.
That was never confirmed and in retro spect sounds like Arsenal had duff info
We don’t publish our contracts here but they do in Spain

But it means they have to sell him. The club negate the opportunity to say no
The player decides regardless of if someone offers more
It depends. I've heard of releases clauses where it is a set fee that means the club have to put it forward to the player and accept the offer if the player wants to go and others that where's it's a minimum figure offered then the club have to inform the player and consider the sale but not neccesarily sell just a clear signal of interest and a negotiating starting poibt and even others where the clause is dependent on other factors like a specific club or league. It really does depend on what the club and the agent are willing to fight and negotiate for.

John Henry has subsequently said that Suarez did indeed have a release clause of over £40m but they didn't believe Suarez would sue them to enforce the legal aspect of the clause. Which makes sense when you think he would have had to take Liverpool to court and won the particular battle and the time it would take. Would he be playing for Liverpool in the meantime? All a bit too messy and supposedly they said there would sell him to Barcelona if they came in for him which did happen the following season.

The latter ain’t a release clause then

If we are going to match the release clause, why haven't we already done it?

There may be reasons. Palace trying to get a replacement. Us trying to offload. But still. 1 st team are back in training soon (apart from those on international duty). Would be nice to have deals done before then.
Isn't Eze with England?

What was the actual reason that we gave him a box when they played us?
His agents have a box at WHL
we didn’t give him it, they did
Same with the Feynoord players
The club have a great relationship with CAA base
Someone like @Finney Is Back may be better placed to talk about them as an agency but their huge and have a great talent pool IIRC
So for the club it’s worth having that relationship for transfers

Is this why Gimenez came to a game?

Yeah, they are a very powerful (and good) agency. I think about 15 of their clients are at Spurs so we have lots of (very good) dealings with them.
