Eberechi Eze

He will also need to stay fit, otherwise we will have to use Son (fine against a high line), Werner or Kulusevski.

None of them really fit that role.
Yeah fitness is the key, but if the club are confident Richi has put his fitness issues behind him over the summer then I'm fine with Ange wanting him to be the main man. His minutes per goal in PL had him for 25 league goals had he been fit for the season.

He will be fine as our CF if he can stay fit for majority of the season, signing a young striker with potential who can support and once acclimatised challenge Richi for the CF role would be fine IMO....

Or veliz or lankshear or scarlett if they are not loaned.

Veliz and Lankshear have had links away on loan.

I'm not sure Scarlett is the answer in this system. We also have Parrott as well, depending on what's happening with him, but they should all get a chance in pre season to see if they can step up.

agree with need for supply lines but if we can sell richie to get two strikers (starter and backup) who are more mobile and can hold on to the ball without falling down we should.
Why sell Richie? We should have money for a new striker without having to sell him, especially as we sold Kane a day before the start of last season without replacing him.

It makes more sense to me to keep him and buy one striker to compete with him. There will be enough matches to keep both of them satisfied.

Besides, why buy a young striker when we have Parrott on our books and after a progressive season on loan.

Also hopefully next summer we should have young strikers Lankshear and Veliz back from successful loans. We do not need to unnecessarily clog up books with players we do not need.

If Richarlison was elsewhere having had a mostly fit and happy season as a striker he's one of the players we'd want to sign.

Most players we could sign that would be a significant upgrade on him would cost at least as much as we could realistically expect to get from selling him. Unless some silly Saudi offer comes in and he wants to leave (both rather unlikely) I think keeping him makes a lot more sense than selling him.

We do probably need another option there, unless Ange thinks he can get the supply lines good enough that Son will be a good option as a striker.

If he played like he has for us then no I probably wouldn't want to sign him. He's not the profile of striker I would want to go for and his technique doesn't really match either. I'm not a big fan tbh, I see a lot of deficiencies in his game but he's not terrible by any means. He's pretty good, I just prefer a different profile of forward. It would be a risk to swap him for someone else, so I wouldn't scream and shout that it must be done, I think medium term it will need to be though. I would love what I consider a better striker as our starting guy for next season, if we to achieve something significant I think it's needed. It doesn't feel like that will happen though so I'll take improve the wings instead.

I think he's a good profile fit, but his inconsistent finishing probably means that he'll never be that even "better" striker.

What kind of profile would you prefer in this system?

Someone with good touch and good technique. Ideally a bit of a dribbler, capable of earning themselves some space with the ball at their feet. A range of passing and vision, would be an excellent bonus but probably a bit unrealistic and unobtainable tbh. I want someone who can create more for themselves rather than someone reliant on service.

Would be good attributes to have for sure. I think we benefit from someone that's at least a decent threat in the air and a solid physical presence. Pressing is a non negotiable. Obviously good or great finishing would be super useful.

Quite a few different profiles that could be good and unlikely that we can sign a striker that ticks all the boxes. Richarlison for me ticks quite a few.
