Does anyone suffer from mental illness on here?

Yeah im a decent guy like most humans are good. I think in the past i was to quick to judge, my main point and probably goes against conventional advice, let the past be the past and keep busy.

Most certainly. Learn from it but don’t keep
looking back. Don’t regret what has happenED look forward to what can happEN...society designs itself to try and get us caught in time signatures too far back or forward, thus why many miss the happiness of a moment. The other big one is recognizing that your “best” changes and fluctuates. Sometimes it is amazing, other times average. As long as your aim is always true then all’s cool. Years ago a yoga teacher taught me that one session would have you feeling a bendy straw yet the next day you could be stiff as a board.

Is anyone else bored of life? I can’t be bothered with most things. End up just wading through the hours until I go to sleep. Not much daily satisfaction.

@thfcsteff i can resonate with what you’ve described in your post. Sometimes when I go out running, it’s easy to run more than a few miles. At other times, it’s hard to even run one mile. Weird that it can vary so much.

I feel you on that. I generally don't feel as "engaged" in things as a lot of people seem to be, but ever since I got a kid, I haven't had much time for being bored per se (except playing with the kid can be extremely boring at times, haha). I have so little spare time, that the time I have I just spend trying to gather energy, really. But I certainly feel you, I don't feel "on top of things" like I did in my early twenties, where I was like a sponge, just yearning to learn and experience and get to know people and whatnot. Now I can't be bothered. I don't really ever feel like meeting new people or going new places or doing new things anymore, I can't be bothered. But, that's kind of liberating too. I don't have this feeling that if I just get to know this next guy, or get to this place around the corner, then stuff will be great forever (which was kind of the allure somewhat back in the day). Life is quite boring and dull and mundane. Even if you're a poker champ with lots of kittens, champagne, cocaine and fast cars ... that brick gets boring, and you get burned out. If you have a thriving business, run around the world making new contacts, earn more and more money, buy yourself an island ... it gets boring and mundane. Climb a mountain, go in the jungle, travel to the far corners of the world ... OK, maybe it doesn't get mundane, but there's something about the restlessness of it that'll be unsatisfactory. I think we're generally hard to satisfy in the long term, unless we can learn to live with the boring and mundane somehow. Get some good habits maybe, slow down, look less at your phone, stare more at the wall, sit in the sofa and read a book, go for a walk - brick like that, calm yourself down, and maybe things won't get so boring so fast, there's stuff to enjoy in the mundane too. :) I'm ranting ...

@Daisuk
Totally agree.
Humans are wonderfully intelligent and emotional beings and need mental development and stimulation. So even doing the same thing you love obov and over becomes boring.
@El Guepardo
Yes I do.
I'm currently doing the opposite by packing in too much and exhausting myself.
But I did have a period of being really bored with life.
I countered it by accepting that it's ok. That actually I needed it so I could appreciate things in the future.
I then spent some time thinking about things I would do when I was ready to again.

If you can, take the pressure off. Embrace feeling bored of life for the minute.
Try a few new things or new old things. Even if you don't enjoy them or don't want to (I know that sounds weird. See how you feel).

Otherwise, we'll get chic to send you something in the post :eek::eek:o_O

Pretty much sums me up at the mo.

I agree life is fairly mundane, even if you are successful and get the huge car and mansion, it is still quite boring tbh. Some people will go see a movie / band / go on holiday and say it was AWESOMMMMMMME but I just feel fairly 5% about most things. I don't really mind, that is OK with me, I am very steady, few ups and downs, pretty relaxed, I know I have a great life really and don't want for anything... I just don't get very excited by stuff.

I get excited by stuff but when you have it you’re like, ok. That was ok, and then think, it’s a bit meh.

I think I just worry about death too much and people I love dying around me so I think what’s the point in having all this nice stuff if you’re just going to die. The main thing in life should be about being happy, not how much money you have or what car you’ve got. Social media is a big thing I hate in life at the moment. Everyone is a show off.

I worry about money, and think that money will solve everything, but I know it won’t.

Maybe it’s an age thing when I know each year passes im getting closer to death. My birthday is this Wednesday and I don’t feel like celebrating it anymore.

For some reason I feel down today. Haven’t had a beer but just feel a bit meh. Sunday evenings before work I guess.

I think this time of year is tough. You don't see the sky enough. Forcing yourself into some walks or even better flying away somewhere warmer is a great idea.

Got stuffed almost £800 today for a ticket when dropping my sick Dad back home from hospital. I appealed it 3 times with no joy and forgot about it as he was in and out of hospital and I was focused on looking after him. Livid and depressed all at the same time.

I would like to find or start a movement to decry bailiffs who extort excessive amounts (less than £200 went to the council) and councils who are setup to take money rather than serve people.

That sucks man. I think everyone in the world is out to make money off anyone.

That said I got an £11 invoice from eBay tonight for an item that I didn’t actually sell. I had put a reserve price on it and hours later decided to not sell it and forgot about it until now. I spent ages trying to find out how to chat to someone on eBay and in the end I spent about 30 mins chatting to a lovely guy called Alan who said I’d been invoiced correctly but would be happy to take this off as I wasn’t used to selljng. We spoke about my new business and other stuff and taking vitamins and it was really nice to have some kindness in the world.

I have to add I’m usually very angry and quick to shout at people before even giving them time to hear me out properly but in this instance I started off joyfully and pleasant to Alan who was exactly the same and more back.
I like that kinda stuff in the world and it makes me happy. I have learned that being nice is a nice thing to do and it makes me happy.

Think Millbland was talking when he was in charge of Labour on cracking down on payday loan sharks, amazes me they are still legal.

We always take a sun holiday this time of year, vitamin D is so important.

Is there is real need for advanced wealthy countries to update local and national government? We are so advanced in many ways, so good at creating wealth, but utterly crap at looking after people. Government is extremely wasteful with resources most of the time - our money - but also not focused on fulfilling peoples needs. So councils make millions on traffic offenses, its like an additional tax, to the extent that the original purpose of regulating parking and keeping roads moving is forgotten. Its not about people anymore, it's about money.

When we fly, why do we step back into an Ellis Island like world with teems of people herded in queues, then funneled past overpriced perfume!? Its not for people. Its for money. Government control these things - or should. But we don't. We have the technology to develop from a 19th century-like processing of people. Democracy is supposed to allow recourse, but it also stifles invention, especially when profits - and their protection - are involved.

We neglect peoples mental health. Socially we are quite impoverished. You look at countries like Cuba, they have no money at all, but care for people, and have much more advanced social networks, and we're not talking facebook.

Yet government wastes a fortune on outsourcing and inefficiency. For all the focus on money, it's not going to government most of it. Of the 800 I shelled out, less than a quarter went to government. The money made by the company than owns our airports probably runs into billions. And for all the emphasis that has been put onto government being financially prudent over the past 40 odd years, money is routinely wasted. There isn't innovation, intelligent cost cutting or an ethos for value for money as private enterprise has. We need a manifesto that reinvents modern government with the aim of it being agile and innovative as well as ways to measure success. In private enterprise its easy to measure success. Profit. Government is more complex, but we should have a matrix to do so, and civil servants should be held to account, with their pensions determined by how well they furthered value to people.

Rant done.
