8m is no longer a big transfer fee really - Palace are paying Peterborough that for some Arsenal youth reject

Maybe levy has realised if the manager needs a 10m aging player to make the CL, then he can have it, as that leaves at least 10mil in profit, which is a hell of a lot more than the EL!
 
If we sign him, surely Defoe will go for about the same dough, if he doesn't want bench time.

Would like Defoe to stay as he'd be a decent sub for Villa in style (just about), but think he'll want to go if we sign someone who will take his spot (wherever the position is in Villas case) directly.

Essentially Villa will cost something like Defoe + £80K Wages over Defoe, so £12M over three years TCO, worth it IMO.

I think we might end up selling Defoe for considerably more than we sign Villa for with a bit of luck and Levy scheming.

Of course it will depend on who shows an interest, but a proven PL English goalscorer will attract clubs I think.
 
Are we really living in a universe where a David Villa transfer to spurs is all but done according to a lot of sources.....(yeah yeah daddys....hp ect...)???????

I cannot believe this may happen and I am seriously regretting off the cuff remarks made to people close to me.....

This is crazy and I may even get a little excited.....D Villa playing in lilywhite spurs uniform..............is this for real or have I been plugged into the matrix.

Where's Benitez at now? He always wanted Defoe didn't he (usually in exchange for Djibril Cisse).

I can't see Defoe leaving London/SE personally. With his bridges burnt at West Ham, I reckon he could end up at Palace or Southampton.
 
I dreamt that Villa scored the winning goal for us against the scum last night. I'm Mystic Meg, it's a done deal.
 
im sure Kinnear and Pardew would love Defoe up in Saudi Sportswashing Machine.....and plenty of loose women in Geordieland to keep JD happy
 
I don't think Defoe is going anywhere. He has made it quite clear he wants to end his career with us and I still think he is a quite useful option. He knows where the back of the net is and not many better I would want to throw on late in a game to try and snatch a winner.

It's a world cup year and will be his last chance to get in a world cup squad so i doubt he will wanna be a bench warmer.
