Cristian Romero

i'd be happy if a mega deal came in for romero. good as he is, angeball in the EPL needs physical CBs who are good in the air. Has always been that way.

Someone please correct me if I have the timeline wrong; gets injured against Villa, doesn’t play the next game for us, magically recovers and plays for Argentina, doesn’t start the next 3 games for us?

No he played the game after injury for us. Then he goes away, plays the first for Argentina and comes off injured.

Villa was the game before the game he finished (Ipswich) where I said he only played so he could go to play for his country
Turned out he played for his country and lasted half a game because he was still injured
Shock, horror, stupid player who is passionate about his country sacrifices everything for his country but gets its wrong

He didn't need to play against Ipswich to play for Argentina though, so that's entirely you're own imagination. He more likely played against Ipswich because VDV was already out with his injury. So rather than leaving us with no 1st choice CBs he played.

Not my imagination , it’s my opinion. Very different things even for a football fan
He couldn’t go and play for his country if he missed the previous game
He is committed to his country like all the Argentinians are. They would run through walls for their country
But footballers are also stupid when it comes to injuries

You keep saying this and it's not bloody true. He could have missed 6 months of football and still go and play for his country. FIFA's regulations allow an international side to call up any player. If there is doubt regarding injury then that international side can then check their fitness themselves. This has happened so many times I don't know why you're confused about the actual rules.

I’m not confused
I read the rule
They can call him up
But they can’t call up an injured player. What they actually have to do is send him for a medical assessment in the country he is in and that persons, normally independently would make a recommendation to the club and the country
That’s a lot of effort and would also lose them any leeway with the club in future
All for a player who injured
Or one who miraculous re-recorded to play but was then injured 45 minutes into the game with the same injury

The same player who managed the whole 90 minutes for us. If we felt he was genuinely too injured to play we wouldn't A have started him nor B played him the entire 90 minutes.

What you're suggesting to twist and fit it into your narrative is that Ange is actually scared of him and plays Romero when Romero decides he's going to play.

Nah
I’m suggesting that the player was forcing himself though it and the pain to be able to go to play for his country
That’s exactly what I’m saying
And he did go
Break down
And hi self more (that’s an assuming by the way as we have no idea how badly hurt he was)
Players are stupid and also proud
They will do anything to play at the top level which is why they get there …. And then everything extra they can squeeze they will
I’ve seen many ex pros talk about injuries and a failure to understand the issues they had

Bro, if Romero said I feel a bit of pain I don't think I'm ready for Ipswich, but I'll be ok in a few days time there's nothing Spurs could do to stop him playing for Argentina. He had no need to put himself through more pain or risk. He did so because if he didn't play we would have no 1st choice CBs available not for some convoluted proof of fitness for Argentina that he doesn't even need to provide in the first place.

We wouldn’t have had Davies and Dragusin?
I think he is a stupid man with great intention (when it comes to football)
And i do agree just don’t get why players are obsessed with playing bit part country games
English players aren’t that’s for sure

That's the way I understand it too.

We haven't had any issues with Romero missing games or being unavailable much at all. He's been injured some times, but mostly as a result of him getting "stuck in" and putting his body on the line for us.

I really don't understand how he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt here. To the extent that there even is doubt.

benefit of doubt in what way?
Do you not believe he okayed for us injured? I mean I was at the game and he was very immobile. It’s possible that’s his normal way because we know he does get caught in no man’s land bu5 he was getting out run by players I would consider to be his speed
And if anyone thinks that a player wouldn’t sacrifice his club for his country they are mad
The only players who do the opposite play for England and prioritise their clubs because they are playing for clubs where they believe they can win things

Benefit of the doubt in that he played for us for the sake of the club and not to play the international games.

It probably wasn't the first time he played for us while carrying a knock/injury.

I know he and many players for different countries value playing for their country much higher than some others do. I think that includes Romero. That doesn't mean he played for us just to play the international game.

Neither are first choice. Neither has been heavily rotated in. Romero and VDV have been selected every time they've been available. In terms of him playing the Ipswich game he was the only 1st choice CB possibly available.

Sure he played injured, but Romero strikes me as the type of player that would do that anyway. The point is he didn't need to play injured or fake his fitness to play for Argentina. You keep talking as if he only played so he could play internationally when the two things aren't linked at all.

He played because he's a hard nut type, he played because he knew if he didn't we would only have 1 official CB available and no 1st choice options. He played because he's part of the leadership group and he felt sacrificing himself while playing with a smallish niggle wouldn't be the end of the world for him and would be for the best for us.

But it makes it much easier for him to go to play for his country if he plays for us first
Means he doesn’t get checked out by drs in advance for example
And causes him and the country no agro in call him up
I even said it before the Ipswich game started
Some injuries there are miracle cures
Some injustices there isn’t
And footballers are stupid when injured
