Cristian Romero

This.

We’ve 2 first choice CBs who rarely play much more than 30 games per season whilst Dragusin only seems to get minutes at RCB after Romero has sustained his latest injury and vdV’s cover is in the twilight of his career.

Combine that with not having a single #6 in the squad who can be trusted to shield the back line for 90 minutes plus a pair of FBs who have been run into the ground.

Hopefully young Archie Gray will be able to step up and cover all these positions until Regulion and Spence can be replaced with players the gaffer trusts plus Bentancur is able to play again.

I presume for 40 million, there are people in our 'upper chambers' who expect him to do this in the same match, y'know, cover several positions!!!!! Oh waaaaaaait...

It really fudging annoys me that we are flogging an 18 year old talent like Gray in this 'all hands' fashion. I think he could be a very special midfielder, but not if we use him like a Swiss army knife.

Gray is turning out to be to Postecoglou what Milner was to Klopp.

Hopefully he doesn’t end up becoming a jack of all trades who gets sidelined once the new transfer committee finally complete this painful rebuild we’ve been in the midst of for most of the past decade.

He has played 9 minutes in midfield so far I think

I'm gonna try and find it but he has mentioned in a interview that we need to invest and called out the board a little!!

The truth is, I would say no comment, but... Emirates Marketing Project competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, if one doesn't do well, they strengthen again, and now they're seeing results. Those are the things to imitate. The last few years, it's always the same people responsible [at Tottenham].Hopefully, they [Tottenham hierarchy] realise who the true responsible ones are, and we move forward because it’s a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year."[Universo Premier podcast /

An upgrade on Romero is close to the top of my list. Good to see he's prepared to step aside when that happens.

Jonathan Tah is out of contract in the summer. Though I expect he'll do what 90% of the top players in Germany do at the end of their contract and move to Bayern.

tinkles me off when players start spouting about the club’s spending. We’re not Emirates Marketing Project, Liverpool or Chelsea Cristian. They have more money than us. Focus on your own mistakes on the pitch instead please.

I genuinely believe all Romero was saying that we're now following the same model as City, Pool etc. We are continually investing in the squad year after year and we will continue to go again. We've seen from the net spending tables that we are setup to spend in alignment with other big clubs.

"Emirates Marketing Project competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn't do well, strengthens again, and now they're seeing results. Those are the things to imitate"

Look closely and he is not saying at all that we're not doing it. He's not having a swipe at the club's boardroom as well. He is defining what is the winning formula in the PL. He is making intelligent commentary, that's all.

This is just another case of our toxic media twisting things out of proportion and having a cheap shot at our club.

Talkbrick doing what it says on the can.

Unfortunately that’s the wrong interpretation, if you look at the full quote. He goes on to say:

‘The last few years, it's always the same - first the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it's always the same people responsible," said Romero, in an interview translated from Spanish.

"Hopefully they realise who the true responsible ones are and we move forward because it's a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year."

Yeah, but I don't think it needs to be that black and white. I do believe Romero is trying to cite the same things we say about the manager changes and the lack of consistency in the club. He's also alluding to what the club is becoming in your last sentence there in a positive manner.

There is absolutely no reason why these comments should be perceived so negatively, and in a way that he's having a swipe at ENIC and Levy. He's just giving a very intelligent perspective.
