Christian Eriksen

I'll hold my hand up as a big critic of his work ethic earlier this season... But he has come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of months.

He's now regularly producing performances that he should be making every week, top drawer, sexy, silky stuff. He also keeps us ticking over too.

For me he is much like a VdV / Modric hybrid and I hope he keeps the upward trajectory going for the remainder of the season.

... still wish he'd shave his head and crash into a few tackles though

There has never been any problem at all with Eriksen's work ethic. He was always consistently up there amongst the hardest working players in the league.

In fact I would say that our move to the 3-5-2 formation has led to Eriksen having to do less work than he did earlier this season. I think this has also allowed him to find more space in dangerous areas and improve his output interms of goals and assists even more.

Agreed. I also think Vertonghen returning to our side has helped our buildup play quite a bit and that means us finding Eriksen in a bit more time and space near the opponent's box more often. We've also played some teams recently that play fairly open football in Everton and Southampton. As well as some teams that really have been rather poor like Fulham, Stoke and Milwall. All of that means a bit more of those situations that are good for Eriksen and as he usually does he shines when getting into those situations.

That's the way I see it too.

Earlier in the season his attacking contribution was minimal and thus the dogs rounded on him for his lack of physicality and tackling. Now that his passes are finding their targets and a few goals are flying in these criticisms have almost dried up. It seems to me he is playing with confidence that was missing early season. I'm sure the wall of meat behind him has something to do with that too.

No matter what faults he has in his game ( as some suggest) he is still the one that makes my pants sticky ( that ball from him to Son at the begining of the game yesterday was world class), we are not the same team without him and if we were to lose him for a long run ( like Toby, Jan, Rose Kane ) we would suffer more then we would with those others.

Agreed. we have no one in the squad that can take his role as principal playmaker. We need to address this in the next window.

Robbed Joey f'in Barton in the centre of the pitch, turned and floated the wonderous pass, that Alli in turn passed beautifully for Son and the second goal.

He is the Heartbeat of our moves. Our Danish Viking.
great way to let barton remember WHL as he ends his career !

I have to agree. He has been at the races and then some since the turn of the year, something has happened, he seems to have matured a level and I thought he was excellent today in the sort of game he has been known (in the past) to have little effect on.

That pass was Hoddle'esq.... It was, dare I say it?... a 'backspin pass'.

GB - you have gone VERY quiet on this thread recently?

was thinking the same. very audacious and i think it was possible because of son's pace. spectacular cut and thrust goal, the defence and goal keeper were mesmerized too.

Was a great goal all round - pass from Eriksen, Son/Allis movement, Allis ball across and Sons finish
