I think it already is.
But justice has to serve the good of society - he will probably struggle to get a job for a few years now, impacting him and three others and the taxpayer and society.
For what was, essentially, very little.

Fine, community order, suspended sentence and football life ban would do it. Even the ten year ban should be enough. At least then he can warn others.

That argument doesn't work - the deterered for someone going further (I presume we mean stabbing or similar) is already there. A serious crime like that carries a serious punishment. And most people involved in the mindset to do that will already be exposed to social circles that will show them what the punishment is like and what prison is really like.

This guy was clearly remorseful of a stupid rush of blood - I don't imagine the kind of person that would "go further" would be remorseful. Indeed, it would have to be premeditated. (Or coincidence with the unlikely event of going to Sainsbury's to buy a knife before the game so you make dinner after)

The Neanderthals who copy and go further won't care about deterents, actually I suspect some of them will see it as a badge of honour as in 'I showed them how it should have been done'. It's trendy atm and the sooner it can be taken out of the public eye the better.
And doesn't seem like it's that difficult to get a knife around London these days.
 
Wasn't there a rule that football related offences gives double the punishment as if the incident took place in a non-football environment?

Well " rent a quote" has mates in the press because of his always being available for a quote ( hence his nickname), any other manager and they would drag him across the coals ( which he fully deserves)

Not able to pay their staff and have now had their safety certificate partially withdrawn - next 2 games to be played without spectators as safety can't be guaranteed (staff/stewards might not turn up). Chairman says he is looking to sell but it doesn't seem to be happening and the threat of administration hangs over the club.
 
Isn't the potential buyer someone who was banned as a director for three years for what he his at another club?

Enough to look back on Big Sam's days as a goldern era.

Brilliant isn't it?
They tried to mix it with the big teams, overspending on hasbeens, paying wages they couldn't afford, challenging Spurs, signing players they had no right to sign.

And now it is coming home to roost. A decade of fun with some good players, fighting for their lives with Davies and co. fighting on the pitch, and now they are struggling back where they deserve to be. Good riddance.
 
Bolton were one of the founder members of the football league and have spent a lot more time in the top flight than out of it. This idea that they are newcomers and unworthy challengers shows an ignorance of football history. They have retained support despite being a small town in a region dominated by the two most successful clubs in the country.

true in this case - http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2010/11/why-bolton-have-so-much-debt.html overspending on wages to compete. Funny thing is if they stayed in the PL for a few more years, FFP cost controls and increased revenue would have corrected the overspend.
 
Despite playing with 10 men for 75 minutes, Wigan came back from 0-1 down to beat Leeds 2-1. The annual choke is truly on.
