A word for Dynamo Dresden, a massive, massive club about to slip out of division 2. Their fans deserve so much better.

It was a protest against legislation brought in by the DFB (the guys in florescent tops are Dynamo fans).

I remember the season before 1860 vs Dresden, they brought 26,000 fans with them and bought tickets all over the stadium. It was simply insane. They travelled all the way from near the Polish border.

Amazing fans and club. Should never have sacked Peter Pacult (ex-Rapid Vienna).
 
Leverkusen just scored in their game to knock Wolfsburg out of the CL spots.

Hamburg just about scraping a relegation playoff spot thanks to two other teams losing.
 
Karim Bellarabi has made history today.

His goal for Leverkusen away to Dortmund after 8 seconds is the fastest in Bundesliga history.

Paderborn's Moritz Stoppelkamp scores from 82 metres, securing his team a 2-0 win over Hannover in the Bundesliga. The goalkeeper's way off his line, trying to equalise from a corner, but it's not an easy goal to score in that situation. Looks like he's actually trying to go for goal as well.

just like ive mentioned in other threads, the only way to compete long term is by being on a level financial footing. although 6 defeats in 9 games is mainly down to short term variance, dortmund's results over the past few years shows that klopp cannot make dortmund compete against bayern as long as their budget is dwarfed by bayern's. thats not klopp's fault, no-one is able to do that. diego simeone's atleti will no doubt also regress to the mean sooner or later. as will liverpool.

yep, and it's not far enough

Dortmund have done brilliantly over the last decade to rebuild from that mess and do what they have done, but its not a blueprint for continued success, like us they will continue to get the heart ripped out of their side every season

Getting their debt under control should make it easier going forward.

The key is to always have a shortlist to replace your stars when they get poached and invest the profit wisely.

They won't win trophies as often as Bayern, nobody will under the current system, but they will win occasionally. Below Bayern there are a number of big clubs, but they're fighting over the same resources. Schalke (Gelsenkirchen) and Dortmund are like 15 minutes apart.

agreed.

and thats why theyre luckier than us. in germany theres only one financial powerhouse, so when they underperform they can be caught. in england its almost impossible for a team like us. ive no doubt we can finish above one of chelsea, mancity or utd in any given season. but we need all 3 to balls up in the same year, and then us to have the year of our lives if we want to win the title. thats why we can pretty much forget about the title for the mean time imo.

i think dortmund are a bit like arsenal in that although they should be classified with leverkusen and schalke etc, they are the richest of that bunch.
