Brennan Johnson

Since he's joined I've wondered if that is confidence or lack of aggression, when he's in form it's better (whatever it is worries me as it similar to what we saw with Sessegnon at times)

Not sure re best in league, he may become extremely effective in Ange's system but he'd have to add a bit to his all round game to an elite player outside of the system
Don’t see anything like sessegnon myself
What I am seeing is much quicker passing to him meaning he can move quicker
But todays goal was brilliant
Quick feet and a tiny space to score in

  1. Jimmy Greaves - 8 consecutive matches (1962-63 season)
  2. Harry Kane - 7 consecutive matches (2017-18 season)
  3. Gareth Bale - 6 consecutive matches (2012-13 season)
  4. Robbie Keane - 6 consecutive matches (2007-08 season)
  5. Jermain Defoe - 5 consecutive matches (2009-10 season

Don’t mean to be a pedant but Kane’s longest scoring streak in EPL was 5 games, according to official site.

Meanwhile, Harry enjoyed another personal first in our fine 2-0 victory against the Toffees - it's the first time he's scored in five successive matches in the Premier League.

League, just double checked, Harry has 13 across all competitions in 17/18

Surprised to see that despite bagging 30 league goals that season Kane never scored in more than 3 consecutive EPL games.

Great to see him notch again, had a fair first season and as with modern football everyone likely went too early in definitive judgements

This is the thing, first season his numbers were decent if unspectacular when considering his age and fact he has joined a new and bigger club with bigger pressure on him - thought some were being overly harsh on him. This season he is well on course to improve his output, his trajectory is on the up as it should be - Said last season he has all the attributes to become a big player with time, of course he's not there yet but his potential is there for all to see....

He reminds me a bit of Dele Alli, overall play isn’t the best but does well in moments and goal contributions (this season). Still think he needs to get more involved in the general build up but he looks super confident in front of goal which is great to see. As much as I hate to see anyone getting online abuse, I do think some criticism directed at him last season and earlier this season was valid.

Yeh and as @Bedfordspurs always put it, you play to strengths of certain players they perform, you get BJ In areas and he scores goals. We can't expect him to be the player he isn't and the one we never bought

Whilst I agree there is room for improvement as there is in just about every player, why does he need to be involved more in the general build up? He plays his part of the system as per Anges' instructions to stay out wide and to make runs into the box when the ball is on the opposite side - he has proven to get both goals and assists here doing that. Ange spent big on him because he has the attributes for the wide forward role doing what he asks and he is performing as he wants. People complain about Maddison coming deep to get more involved - Being more involved doesn't equate to having a greater impact on the match.....

Exactly mate
If we expect him to play like Messi we’re gonna have an issue
If we expect him to play more like Saka… we have a chance

Sorry didn’t really explain that very well, what I meant was he needs to improve his overall play, be a bit braver and take people on, improve his passing etc. I’m sure his goal contributions will improve compared to last season and his form right now makes him undroppable.

He needed to be more involved when we were playing the slow zombie version of Ange ball. At that paint we couldn't afford to have a passenger for a winger who had no involvement or impact upon games because given the way we were playing he was a large cause of the bluntness.

Now we are playing faster and with more verve overall, it's giving him time and space (that he needs) to be effective.

If the football regresses back to the overly slow and overly intricate pass, pass and more pass then he will once again suffer and be a problem for the team.

So really it's all about Ange keeping the team playing at a faster tempo and with real intention.

The entire team is playing with more confidence and belief now. I'm absolutely certain this is more how Ange wants us to play. Slow at times, but then very quickly when those moves are on.

Johnson is also playing with a lot more confidence and is contributing more on his own too, as well as getting the benefit of the team playing better.

But it's also been a matter of who we've been playing, their style and quality. When we come up against a better quality mid/low block defending in a "passive" manner we'll be put to a different test.

It’s who we’re playing against
But also the speed of passing
Does help we have recently (Brentford exception) been in front
But if you pass quick you can move quick
