Brennan Johnson

I'm not sure it's really much credit to the fans just because they're chanting his name now when he is scoring. Decent fans support players during the tough times, not just now he's on a good run....

His name got the loudest cheer of anyone before Qarabag, at that point he had scored 2 in 2 which isn’t to be sniffed at but it’s not earth shattering. I feel it was a reaction to the negative stuff he’s been getting thrown at him.

Oh of course it was a reaction to that, but I don't particularly find it a particularly special thing that highlights how good our fans are - any clubs fans would cheer a guy who has been abused by some gutless keyboard worriors, especially coming off the back of a couple of goals. But anyway, as long as Johnson appreciated it that's all that matters.....

Almost feels like Ange knows his stuff when many wanted him dropped and he said he knows what Johnson is capable of.
See this is positive reactionary posting. Along with the negative reactionary posting he has before this little run.

Before this little run he was getting into areas and wasting chances. It was obvious. He wasn't playing great. Did that mean he deserved abuse? No. Never. You support your players and hope they pass this phase.

To me it looks like he has been working on his finishing. Low and hard. Seems dumb but his conversion rate has gone up with just the old adage of hitting the target.

Goals change opinions. But he has more room to grow, especially in this system which is built for the wide forwards to get most of the goals. We need 15 at least from his side in all competitions. Same from the left. Solanke will be doing a lot of the hard work.

I'm loving his form. He wants to prove the critics wrong. Good. Keep at it lad.

Perhaps the criticism made him get some fire in his belly … good for him. Hope it’s not just a purple patch and now can improve on his composure and decision making. Don’t think anyone doubted his physical attributes. Upwards and onwards

Don't think so, @Chrissivad's comment was specific to Ange's opinion

Johnson is 100% an Ange buy, he was fudging expensive, he is our 4th most expensive signing of all time, more than Romero, Porro, Maddison. Clearly Ange had a vision for him, regardless of other's view (I've seen pundits as recently as last week say "he's nothing special")

Yes, he's growing/maturing and is clearly better at certain things this season than last, part of that is the system is giving him better chances as well, but this is a credit Ange situation, he's brought in a promising youngster with a vision and that player is growing into that ..

There will be bad days, moments when that form drops but the vision should be clear now.

  1. Jimmy Greaves - 8 consecutive matches (1962-63 season)
  2. Harry Kane - 7 consecutive matches (2017-18 season)
  3. Gareth Bale - 6 consecutive matches (2012-13 season)
  4. Robbie Keane - 6 consecutive matches (2007-08 season)
  5. Jermain Defoe - 5 consecutive matches (2009-10 season
Shame the OG against Saudi Sportswashing Machine doesn’t count in his tally

Is this just in the league or in all competition?

Johnson has so much potential, just needs to have the confidence to attack his players more, try and drive past them. He can do it, just needs to do it.

If he did that, he could be come one of the best in the league.

Since he's joined I've wondered if that is confidence or lack of aggression, when he's in form it's better (whatever it is worries me as it similar to what we saw with Sessegnon at times)

Not sure re best in league, he may become extremely effective in Ange's system but he'd have to add a bit to his all round game to an elite player outside of the system
